TRENTON — It is highly unlikely that Gov. Chris Christie will be Donald Trump's running mate, according to two sources who are advising the Trump campaign and who requested to remain anonymous.

Instead, the sources said that former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich is "the likely pick" to be the tycoon's choice for vice president.

The sources, who have been privy to some of the selection process, have insisted on anonymity because they are not authorized to speak for the campaign.

"The people who've been pushing the Christie narrative are Christie people," said one of the sources, who has heard Gingrich is the likely pick. However, "it's Trump — I doubt anyone really fully knows what he's going to do."

As the first among the 2016 field to endorse Trump last February, Christie quickly rose within the Trump inner circle, helping him with debate prep and soon after, being named the

Democrats had 100k more votes than Republicans in the Pennsylvania primary. He will need to do something to make up the difference and the vote fraud.

I don’t want Newt - he belongs to the CFR. No one is talking about Huckabee. I think he might be a good choice. None of these people are perfect, so, we have to have the one we think will help the ticket. Santorum puts me to sleep, as does Jeff Sessions. Newt does look old and overweight. No thanks.

We have talked about Huckster extensively. He is a big fat, phony joke. Disastrous Governor, killed the AR GOP on his watch, militantly open borders and for stocking the Tyson chicken plants with illegal labor, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Marsha Blackburn would be a great pic.

I like Newt for chief of staff so much better than for VP.

I like Blackburn! Trump has TN locked down without her, though so demographically she wouldn’t add anything. But, the trend seems to be away from that sort of thinking anyway.

Hell NO to Newtie!

The Huckster is just the flip side of the coin to Slick Willie Clinton! He IS Clinton, sans the sex scandals! You need to read up on his history!

I'm really NOT in favor of any of those claimed to be on Trump's VEEP list; however, we do NOT know who all is on that list !

The east coast wouldn’t be a good choice. Trump is a New Yorker, It’s one of the first things people recall when they think of him. Concentrating power in the east would prove a tough sell to much of the country.

Whatever we think of Newt Gingrich, he carries a lot of baggage. Trump will need to spread the ticket around the country. Santorum and Christie are close enough to be New Yorkers for much of the country.

His V.P. needs to come from the midwest, the deep south, or the northwest.

I have an idea. SInce no one seems to measure up to who any of us want - I say he go it alone - no VP at all. What a novel idea.

LOL....well there are TWO generals on his list; supposedly, so perhaps he’ll pick one of them. OTOH, I bet/hope he picks someone NOBODY has even talked about.

Good to know about the generals. Let’s hope there’s someone better that Newt.

“Adding Newtie makes Hillary president.”

Same could be said for almost all the choices listed so far. We have an uphill battle as it is, we can’t afford to be saddled with a bad VP pick.

Look at,Greg Abbott.

Leave Gov Abbott out of it and to Texas alone.

He has Texas to run and #TEXIT to administer to.

Santorum is a loser, and he destroyed his own credibility when he endorsed radical leftist Arlen Specter over his challenger Pat Toomey in Toomey's first Senate race.

Specter defeated Toomey, then switched to the Democrat Party while he was in office.

Toomey is now in the U.S. Senate. Specter is now dead. And Santorum is an 'effing loser who should disappear from public view.

My prediction is that Trump's running mate is going to be someone who either hasn't been mentioned at all, or isn't seen as a strong candidate for the position.

Of all the people whose names have been mentioned in various media reports so far, Joni Ernst is the only one I see as a credible running mate for Trump.

Word in Iowa is that Ernst was very uncomfortable with Trump’s brash persona. Not a matter of politics, just personality.

Doubtful she was being seriously considered. I think the Trump campaign is sizing up political allies up close and personal with the VP process.
