A Minnesota traffic stop turned deadly Wednesday evening as a police officer opened fire on a black driver.
The victim, 32-year-old Philando Castile, died at a Minneapolis hospital, a family member told The Washington Post. Castiles mother, Valerie Castile, told CBS Minnesota that her son had died at Hennepin County Medical Center.
The St. Anthony Police Department confirmed the drivers death during a brief Thursday morning press conference but did not identify the officer involved in the shooting or the officers race.
The bloody aftermath of the confrontation was broadcast live on Facebook by a female passenger in the car.
He killed my boyfriend, said the woman, whose Facebook page named her as Lavish Reynolds, as blood soaked through Castiles shirt.
In the video, Reynolds says Castile was legally licensed to carry a firearm and was reaching for his identification when the officer opened fire.
He let the officer know that he had a firearm and he was reaching for his wallet and the officer just shot him in his arm, she says.

And you believe that over the girlfriend correcting the cop that after he had told the officer about his legal gun, the cop asked him to produce his ID?
There really is a government war on black men.
When the girlfriend calmly states like that that he was just following the officer’s instructions, you conclude that he was doing the contrary?
Where are you reading that?
problem is the source, the infamous Republic hating Washington Post
I don’t believe that. But there is a problem with militarized cops. Doesn’t surprise me that with all circumstances considered innocent black men get the worst of it. Something should be done both for that and more generally.

Thanks—I’ll go take a look.
I said it really badly.
I was done with my cab shift. Cab driver friend was giving me a ride home as he was still on duty. There was also a passenger he had to drop off on the way.
The passenger was drunk and started saying he had a gun. The driver, as told by police to do when in trouble, put on his brights and we did pass a police car and they knew to stop us.
They knew it would be a dangerous situation based on the brights but i got out of the back seat and started walking towards them to explain that the drunk passenger said he had a gun (I didn’t believe it for a second and felt bad for the old drunk geezer just bragging).
They had guns drawn and said stop waling towards us but i kept on doing it like an idiot.
They could have shot me even though i had nothing in my hands, I guess.
Anyway, they dropped the guy off at home and that was that.
A Crips member with a legal gun permit? that makes sense /s
“There really is a government war on black men.”
Not sure the gov’t is conducting this war. Looking at just one city:
” Over the holiday weekend, Chicago passed an ominous threshold: So far in 2016, 2,000 people have been victims of gun violence.”
It appears there is a war, but I am not seeing the gov’t’s involvement in the vast majority of it.
And the moral of the story is that the slaves should obey their overseers.
A year or so ago, there was a dash video of an officer (young) pulling in behind a young adult (black) at a gas station and the driver gets out to pump gas and is shocked to the policeman standing there. The policeman asks to see his ID and the the kid turns back to his truck and gets it. As he turns around the officer shoots him several times (4 or so) and cuffs him. Interesting conversation as the wounded man asks the cop why he shot him and the cop said it was because he reached into his vehicle. The driver replied ‘but you asked me to show you my license.. ‘
A deadly situation can happen fast to anyone...
What gang members have legal permits and work at a cafeteria for 15 years???
it sounds really stupid. People could say i was a gangster because some of my acquantinces were. Come on.
I see this is the source from the comment at Conservative Treehouse:

There also appears to be an online a record of the girlfriend having been arrested at some point for motor vehicle theft.
I don’t know if either is accurate at this point.
I have a CCW. I keep my hands on the wheel, announce that I have a CCW, announce that I have a weapon on my left hip. I do not move until told to do so.
Both cop and driver made mistakes. The cop is a professional who is paid to not make mistakes.
The driver does not need to be a professional anything to exercise his 2A rights.
A cop asking for license and registration is almost automatic when a cop approaches a driver. It is almost automatic in the mind of all of us drivers also. If the cop did not want the driver to reach for his license, the cop should have said: Keep your hands on the steering wheel.
In short, the cop was very unprofessional, incompetent on the level of Hillary.
I have a CCW. I keep my hands on the wheel, announce that I have a CCW, announce that I have a weapon on my left hip. I do not move until told to do so.
That is one cold bitch. No doubt has dollar signs in her eyes. Her future is assured.
What good is it to broadcast the ‘aftermath’ framing it as ‘This dirty cop shot just shot my boyfriend for NO REASON”.
The video excludes anything upon which you could base outrage. I would very much like to know what THE REASON was. And then carry out the administrative discipline and/or Criminal charges based on that information. This doesn’t add up to me yet. ‘He shot my boyfriend for no reason’ is like saying 5x5 is fifty five. The math is wrong.
