When he descended the Trump Tower escalator on June 15 last year to announce his run for the presidency, Donald Trump polled near the bottom of the Republican field. An NBC-Wall Street Journal poll taken from June 14 to 18 reported Trump was the first choice of 1 percent of Republican voters, behind Rick Perry, Carly Fiorina, and eight others. A RealClearPolitics graphic tracking an average of several polls illustrates the stunning speed of Trumps rise. For most of June, Trumps line slithered along the bottom of the 17-person field, then headed by Jeb Bush. Two weeks after his announcement, Trump stood at 6 percent. After that his support line began to shoot up vertically, pulling even with Bush by mid-July. Trump finished the month at 21 percent, comfortably ahead of Bush and Scott Walker at 12 and 13 percent respectively, a lead he would never relinquish.
His announcement was at first treated by the press as something of a curiosity. Many focused on his assertions of wealth. Im really rich, he said at one point. Few focused initially on the notorious remarks about MexicoWhen Mexico sends its people theyre not sending their best
theyre sending people that have lots of problems and theyre bringing those problems with us, theyre bringing drugs, theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. While factual, if one conceded that Trump was not speaking of all Mexican migrants, the words were clearly incendiary....

Despite being a billionaire, he understands real people in a way none of the others seems to have an affinity for.
“...a shallow grasp of policy, “
Yeah, because policy is so tough and all... Ever since Barbara Streisands stupid question I’ve been wondering WHAT this “policy” is and why so many seem to think it requires a a big giant brain to grasp.
Wow! That is a money quote right there!
Very true.
Conservatism has been a spectacular failure at conserving anything. Every single last thing that the liberals have wanted, culturally speaking, they have gotten. There is not a single thing in which people like Ted Cruz have successfully held back the tide.
They know exactly what the right thing to do is. Their "mysterious" behavior is that of people who are bought and paid for. No mystery.
To hear Mitch McConnell publicly badmouth DJ Trump is obvious proof, IMO.

That's what I mean. He talked about Islamic terrorism, and everyone tried to separate himself from him. But muslims are muslims, and the odds that they would have a terrorist attack before the primaries were over was probably 100%. When they struck in Paris, he was the only one that benefited, everyone thought, "Trump is right," and all the other candidate's statements to separate themselves from him hurt themselves. Events with immigrants and muslims just kept proving his statements correct.
I'd like to see a chart of his popularity with the terrorist attacks and the murders by immigrants labeled on the chart.
Donald Trump did more in a week than I and many like me were ever able to accomplish with the immigration crisis.
Know why?
He is a great listener!
Evidently the ONLY one in politics today, other than Jeff Sessions, willing to put his ASS on the line to tell you the truth!
He LISTENS...and evidently he listened in 2004, during the debates of the presidential race when Bob Shieffer of CBS stated that the most questions he got from the PUBLIC to ask the candidates was about......WAIT FOR IT...
IMMIGRATION!
2004!
THAT is how long we have all been ignored, until Donald Trump!
SCHIEFFER: Let’s go to a new question, Mr. President, I got more e-mail this week on this question than any other question. And it is about immigration.
(PS....if you really want to see what phonies both Bush and Kerry were, take a look at their answers in that debate to the ONE immigration question! http://www.debates.org/index.php?page=october-13-2004-debate-transcript
But it’ll be different with Trump, of course.
