Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he has reservations about the candidate at the top the 2016 Republican ticket: Donald Trump.
McConnell made headlines earlier this week for declining to say whether Trump is qualified for the presidency.
But in an interview with Washington, D.C. bureau reporter Geoff Bennett, McConnell said Trump is not yet a credible presidential candidate.
McConnell: "Trump clearly needs to change, in my opinion, to win the general election. What Ive said to him both publicly and privately: 'Youre a great entertainer. You turn on audiences. Youre good before a crowd. You have a lot of Twitter followers. That worked fine for you in the primaries. But now that you are in the general, people are looking for a level of seriousness that is typically conveyed by having a prepared text and Teleprompter and staying on message.' So my hope is that he is beginning to pivot and become what I would call a more serious and credible candidate for the highest office in the land."
Bennett: "At the moment, though, I hear you saying he does not meet that threshold of credibility?"
McConnell: "Hes getting closer. Getting closer."

With friends like these...
Love how these people were asking us to put up with their rotten choices through the years (Dole, McCain, Romney)... and for once, when the tables are turned, they cant do the same and show some reciprocity.
It could be worse. Calling him a great entertainer is certainly better than calling him a racist like one Congressional bozo in the other chamber recently did
Mitch does not represent my interests.
Donald does indeed represent my interests.
And scores of millions of others’ interests.
Uniparty wailing and gnashing teeth in the throes of cognitive dissonance
(and more so, the looming end of their thieving gravy train).
What an incompetent moron!
Just before the general election. We need to get rid of this dead weight.
Amen. I was just saying that today. I have held my nose and voted for McCain. I did the same for Romney. They weren’t my pick, but the people voted for them, and I agreed ultimately that they would be better than Obama and would give me my pro-life justices. When the shoe is on the other foot, our side throws a tantrum. If Hillary gets elected, I may be done with the Republican Party.
McConnell is not a credible candidate.
These GOPe son of a bit**es are useless.
Their party is almost over.
This is all about keeping the borders wide open and the donor class happy.
Mitch is the epitome of a corporate whore bought and paid for by the COC to keep the status quo.
These GOPe dirt bags better worry about Trump voters not Trump.
The establishment trying to get leverage with Trump.
Remember everyone helping drag him over the finish line when he was a wounded duck. What an absolute roll of toilet tissue he is. Another unitary globalist. Not a dimes worth of difference between the sides at the top levels.
Trump won because he spoke the truth without a teleprompter and constantly repeating a planned line. Like Rubio which Christie used to knock him out.
Keep doing what you’re doing, Trump. Any advice from a republican? Do the opposite.
He, like most, is controlled by what the NSA has on the faggot.

Mitch the joyfull turtle?
F.O. Mitch!
If Trump wasn’t running, I wouldn’t vote for a single Republican.
Trump is a more credible candidate than McConnell was ever a credible Senate majority leader.
McConnell would never say such a thing about McCain or Romney, the last two losers that ran.
If Trump wasnt running, I wouldnt vote for a single Republican.
Ryan and McConnell’s Hillary enabling tantrums have made my vote against Rubio in the general so easy. I hope he gets primaried but ZERO chance I now vote straight GOP ticket in November.
