The Supreme Court struck down Texas abortion restrictions that had caused more than half of the states abortion clinics to close.

We’ll see, but it is a clear example whereby the federal judiciary is willing to stomp all over states rights to get the outcome that the progressives want, without regard for duly-passed laws of states in areas where the constitution does not give specific authority to the feds.
So sounds like they can do abortions in garages now and if he botches it, the “doctor” doesn’t have to be affiliated with a hospital either?? This country is descending into total lunacy. They are outlawing common sense.
Bork died in 2012. Obama would have picked his replacement. Bork would have zero say in this ruling.
His 79 year old sister. And unlike Papi Cruz she was not a campaign surrogate.
Personally I really doubt Trump thought she would make a great justice or would have seriously considered his sister. I have a feeling he was just letting people know he had a sister that was a federal judge and was being polite to her. Like my young nephew... I might tell people at the family reunions "That kids a great carpenter, if I ever build a house he's who I want for the job!" But seriously if I was to build a house I would go get a professional contractor, because while my nephew is good at roofing and cutting boards, he has nowhere near the skill to coordinate something as big as the construction of a an entire residence.
Maximum personal freedom, minimum political and economic freedom.
We are slaves without shackles.
Precisely. You can’t mandate admitting privileges.
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr. dissented.
The left constantly condemns "back alley abortions," but then want restrictions that make abortion clinics real "clinics" and not back alleys thrown out.
Texas should take this opportunity to strengthen protections for women seeking abortions. They should amend laws regarding damages at medical facilities without admitting privileges at local hospitals. The threshold for demonstrating injury should be virtually eliminated for any patient injured at any medical facility without hospital admitting privileges. The burden of proof should shift to the unpermitted surgery center to demonstrate their actions did not contribute to the injury.
SCOTUS also vacated a jury trial conviciton of a public offical (former VA governoer Robert McDonnell) for bribery. This decision was unanimous.
Interesting. But not unexpected.
Thanks for the second link. Very interesting. Sotomayor dissented with Justice Thomas on that one. Two cases were involved there - both from the state of Maine.
Texas should ignore the ruling as leftist states have ignored Heller. Screw the degenerates in black robes.
No surprise at all; the American people heartily endorse abortion and have since the 1970s. Even Richard Nixon, Goldwater, and John G. Tower were pro-aborts.
Baby killers gonna do what baby killers gonna do. Another big win for the “planned parenthood” baby butchers. SCOTUS sucks.
Texit, there goes the engine that produced the only job growth during the Obama years. If they Texit it is over.
Kennedy has gone hard left since the demise of Scalia.
There were 5 in favor of striking the Texas law, today, so unless Scalia could have convinced Kennedy to reverse his position, the Texas law was going to fall under the weight of SCOTUS anyway.
Just another push on the right. The right growls but inevitably acquiesces to the left.
