A slot at the GOP convention used to be a career-maker — a chance to make your name on the big stage and to catch the eye of the Republican donors and activists who make or break campaigns.

In the year of Trump: Not so much.

With the convention less than a month away, POLITICO contacted more than 50 prominent governors, senators, and House members to gauge their interest in speaking. Only a few said they were open to it — and everyone else said they either weren’t planning on it, didn’t want to, weren’t going to Cleveland at all, or simply didn’t respond.

Good! THIS election isn’t going to be about politicians and their lying, farcical platforms anyway. It’s about us! The RINOs couldn’t tell us what to think in the past year so why should we want to listen to them spout any more Liberal leaning garbage? My wife loves to tune into one of the morning network news shows (can't tell you which one, they all follow the same template) for recipe ideas and the like.

As I was gulping down breakfast to leave to work, they were enthusiastically reporting this Politico story as if it were actual news.

Coal miners from West Virginia, farmers from California, families of people killed by illegals, people who cannot find a job, parents of kids killed by a gun-free Chicago. These are powerful stories by average Americans. We cannot take another four years of this madness. Trump needs to hit it hard.

I think Trump needs to have a convention WITHOUT all these political hacks!! He should have a convention of small business owners who have against ALL odds been successful in this great country, people who could NOT have done this in TODAYS environment!!!
