Could Delegate's New Lawsuit Derail Trump's Nomination?
NBC News ^ | June 24, 2016 | Alexandra Jaffe

A Virginia delegate to the Republican National Convention filed a class action lawsuit in federal court Friday challenging a state law that binds delegates to support the primary winner at the nominating convention.

The outcome of the lawsuit could have significant implications for Donald Trump's nomination, as it will be a test case of a key argument being pushed by some Trump opponents who want to see him stopped at a contested convention.

I haven’t forgotten that the Constitution says he can’t be President.
Cubanadians are NOT natural born citizens anymore than Kenyanesians or Omar Mateen.

I have posted similar in other threads.

If the rebellious delegates think they can unseat Trump, there is no way a replacement will win in November. If Trump goes, so does just over 13 million who voted for him in the primaries.

The bigger problem is that those rebellious rinocrats don’t really care whether Clinton wins. They think they could effectively challenge her in 2020, like Romney effectively challenged {snicker} Obama. Of course, that 13 million will likely stay home or go fishes if the 2020 Pubbie nominee is one of the establishment Republicans.

Frivolous suit.

“The First Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees delegates to the Republican Party’s and Democratic Party’s national conventions the right to vote their conscience, free from government compulsion, when participating in the selection of their party’s presidential nominee.”

No it doesn’t. No one compelled him to be a delegate, and he voluntarily chose to be one knowing the legal responsibilities of the position.

TRUMP is the one who can construct for us a THIRD party without delegates.

The British were delegate-free yesterday. No delegates, no super-delegates, no BS. It was a straight up simple vote for LEAVE or REMAIN. A referendum.

That simple referendum changed the world.

They think they could effectively challenge her in 2020,

WHY?? She openly confessed in CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY to Espionage and Treason and they DID NOTHING.

A ballot or a bullet. If the first one doesn’t mean anything to the RINO’s then maybe the seond one will!

“You can expect the Fed judge to refuse to certify the class and to dismiss the case. Meanwhile, everyone should deregister as a republican.”

Depends on the judge. If they have gotten a crony judge, then this could go on for awhile.

Delegates cut out of their gravy train.

Sounds strangely similar to the financial institutions response to Brexit.

Must be coincidental coincidence.

I have plenty of reservations about Trump, but a rule should mean more than something to be broken.

Which political party is the Virginia delegate representing? ...the Communist party?

...the Democrat Party?

The delegate want to use lawyers to nullify the votes and wishes of millions of voters? When will this insanity stop?

LOL! I can relate to what you are saying. This is beyond infuriating. Ted could have turned a negative into a positive and positioned himself near the executive cockpit for future political office. He could have reigned in his followers but not a damn word!

sounds like an intensely stupid lawsuit that should be tossed fast, but the state party should act too — strip this guy of his delegate credentials and toss him from the party

I think the “LITTLE HANDS “ took care of that, but the maybe even 5 person Primary for the Senate seat is not a given win for him!

“The bigger problem is that those rebellious rinocrats don’t really care whether Clinton wins.”

Not quite - they WANT Clinton to win, if the alternative is Trump, and the only way to achieve that is to get Trump off the ticket.

My point has always been that the ELECTED REPUBLICANS still want to win at least their own seats in November - and THEY TOO WILL BE CRUSHED if Trump is removed from the ticket.

It is the ELECTED REPUBLICANS that do have some say over what the party insiders do, and they sure as hell better use that say, because otherwise THEY WILL BE ROUTED out of office...and trust me, Trump or not, they do not want that outcome.
