HENDERSON CO., N.C. – Actress Kelly McGillis, best known for her role in the movie Top Gun, was attacked in her Henderson Co. home on Saturday June 17, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies say she came home to find Laurence Marie Dorn in her home.
McGillis was able to flee after a struggle and call 911.

Many years ago, Fang & I lived on a lake in N.C. - My
dentist was having me to put rubber bands on my front
teeth in order to straighten them up. I ran out of the
ones he gave me & improvised with a bit of blood red
thread wrapped around my teeth. - One day, I was still
dressed in my red quilted housecoat & had a blood red
string wrapped around my teeth. - Knock on door. I
answered door to two men who were “looking for their dog
and had I seen him”. Well, Fang was at work. I wasn’t
afraid. The guys kept looking at my “bloody” mouth &
blood red housecoat that was probably concealing a
pistol. The couldn’t get away fast enough. (I had
forgotten I had a bloody mouth until I looked in the
mirror later.) I’ve had some narrow escapes from mayhem.
I reckon the Good Lord looks after pore old yokels.

I think “Laurence” is a typo. The correct name seems to be “Laurene Marie Dorn”.

Oh my, I do remember when she looked like that. Another favourite of mine she did was “The House on Carroll Street”, with Jeff Daniels. She even shot a movie up here in Ottawa about some ten years ago called “Black Widower” and it has footage of all sorts of familiar locations, so that was another fun one to watch because of that.
Took your course last year, loved it-even though it was a hot day. The instructors were great as well as the RSO’s.
