Nigel Farage has told Sky News it "looks like Remain will edge it" as votes are counted in the EU referendum.
The UKIP leader said it had been an "extraordinary" campaign and it looked like turnout had been "exceptionally high".
He also insisted UKIP were "going nowhere" and predicted the party would "continue to grow stronger in the future".
Although a long time campaigner for the UK to split from Brussels, Mr Farage is not the official leader of the Leave camp.

That murder of the MP shifted momentum!
This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,—
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.
William Shakespeare, “King Richard II”, Act 2 scene 1
I’ll bet the 48 wish they weren’t disarmed.
Do like the liberals do.
Have another vote in 6 months.
The murder of MP Jo Cox sure was a convenient event for the Remain camp, just one week before the vote.
Turkey will enter the EU and the Brits will continue to be drowned in regulations.
Say “Hello” to PM Sadiq Khan.
This will be their last opportunity.
They will be assimilated into the EU Borg.
Looks like EUSSR got its Reichstag fire with Cox’s assassination
Investors were set to crash markets and spur big layoffs in the event of a Brexit.
A Godless, one world totalitarian government is inevitable. This “freedom” thing was just a brief side trip.
Convenient that they activated one of the MKULTRA goons at that time, huh?
That’s a shame for all of us. If I may be excused, off to shed a few tears..and then turn on the faucet full force.
Britain, delighted to have seen your charming countryside when you had a charming countryside. In the future, those who have never seen, never will be able to see.
The muslims will have such a blast. Do any realize just how many old historical churches England has. The muzzies will be blowing double time for years. A mighty country stood up to Nazi Germany, and fell before a camel rider.
Very sad indeed.
Yep, it’ll be all over once they admit Turkey. This Islamization of Europe will be done. It will be like Russia pounding Berlin into the ground in the Spring of 1945. I am sure Cameron will hide in a bunker and claim the Queen’s Common Law will reign forever as the Islamists conduct Sharia Courts and behead blasphemers in the streets.
They did it to themselves. I have no sympathy. Same goes for Venezuela. And soon enough, America.
You did like Occupied.
I think it illustrated how many will be happy no matter what as long as money comes in.
Btw. watched the show after your reccomendations. loved it.
Damn EU. lol.
The last thing I would want to do is introduce a dark note. But, strangely, history has shown us that in recent times, events in England, like this vote, foreshadow events in America.
When the British voted for Margaret Thatcher, Americans voted for Ronald Reagan. When Englanders voted Labour Party, Americans embraced Bill Clinton and the democrats. This pattern has remained remarkably true.
No, I’m afraid today’s vote in England is not a good sign for Trump’s America First campaign.
It was damned if you do damned if you don’t. If they voted to leave, the globalists would have conducted a selloff that would have been of biblical proportions and it would have been laid at the feet of racists leavers.
If they were good little serfs and voted to remain, the globalists would allow them to have basic necessities and continue their low paying jobs.
