The commodore in charge of the two U.S. Navy boats that strayed into Iranian waters leading to the capture of his 10 sailors for 16 hours in January will be relieved of command likely putting an end to his career, Fox News has learned.

Hard to know what is true about the incident and what is the WH’s lies. Hard to know if the captain was following orders, if it was a set up and if he is the patsy or a total moron. What we do know for certain, he is Christain. If he was a muslim, we’d be reading he was getting a medal.

You could be in the Army and know what the deal is. A military coup would be interesting.I hope the next President suggests a ‘circumstance’ where that would be in the nations interest.
Terrible but under LBJ, there were two even worse incidences:
1. On June 8, 1967, US Navy intelligence ship USS Liberty was suddenly and brutally attacked on the high seas in international waters by the air and naval forces of Israel. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that this was an American ship and lied about it. Survivors have been forbidden for 40 years to tell their story under oath to the American public. The USS Liberty Memorial web site tells their story and is dedicated to the memory of the 34 brave men who died.

There is no commodore during peace time.
That’s a war time rank.
I’m trying to imagine how the helmsman not obeying an order to evade means the chain of command was unclear.

There is no rank of commodore in the US Navy. It was changed (over 25 years ago) to Rear Admiral, Lower.
Per Wiki “Today, it is no longer a rank, but it continues to be used as an honorary title within the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard for those senior captains (pay grade O-6) in command of operational organizations composed of multiple independent subordinate naval units (e.g., multiple independent ships or aviation squadrons).”
I was enlisted. Never heard a Captain being referred to as Commodore.
Perhaps they were uncomfortable calling him ‘Lower Half’?
If the Commodore gave the stand down order rather than and order to resist and await help, he deserves the appropriate punishment.
Commodore is a position, a job title, not a rank.
