The specter of Donald Trump’s presidential nomination being ripped from under him in a nastily contested Republican National Convention next month is alive — again.
Anti-Trump forces appeared to have been defeated after he ousted his remaining opponents from the race in early May and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Paul D. Ryan and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus all signaled that Mr. Trump had sewn things up.
But weeks of bad press stemming from Mr. Trump’s criticism of a federal judge and uneven handling in the aftermath of the Orlando, Florida, terrorist shooting have kick-started efforts to deny Mr. Trump the nomination on the convention floor.

Nevada Republican Senator Dean Heller announced today that he is not voting for or supporting Trump.

I am afraid you are correct. Some, like Ryan and Romney are effectively working for Hillary Clinton. Senators like Mark Kirk who has publicly said he will not support Trump are also the enemy. Since they don't care if Hillary wins, they need to worry that worse things will come their way in whatever it is done.
If they try this, Trumps numbers will go up. it will just prove once again America needs an outsider

If this were some kind of strategy to keep the press rabid and seemingly out of touch up until the convention, I’d commend Romney.
News reports before the convention would continue to dwell on the seemingly divided GOP and Clinton’s assured cakewalk this fall. News reports after the delegate vote would have to do a 180 and the GOP could point out the ridiculously biased nature of the press where editorials disguised as news are spewed daily.
However, this would be too brilliant of a plan for the GOP. They’ll stick to the mundane “succession” plan where the next in line is cued up to fail and the frigging lefty lunatics not fit to run a lemonade stand or lead a group of corpses to a grave will continue their overhaul of the United States economy and way of life.
