West Hartford, CT A 71-year-old West Hartford man was arrested after making a homophobic slur to a Home Depot cashier and referencing the Orlando, Florida, nightclub shooting on Wednesday, according to police.
West Hartford Police responded to the Home Depot on New Park Avenue around 11:30 a.m. to speak with an employee regarding a report of a hostile customer.
The employee told police he was talking to the customer about why he was wearing gloves at the register before it quickly evolved into a harassing discussion about the employee's sexuality, according to the police report.
The employee told police that the customer called him a faggot and referenced the Orlando, Florida, nightclub shooting. The comments were overheard by another employee, police said.

arrested for saying faggot?!?!
I guess theoretically they could find out who said that on their computer and arrest them.
#### this guys. Trumps wins or it’s game on.
Jews could never have believed how bad things were gonna get so they stayed and hoped. Their fellow countrymen could NEVER try to erase them from the earth!
History repeats.
Home Depot is the go-to place if you know what you want and just want to get in and out. I go to smaller, local hardware stores if I need help.

They aren’t the only ones.
“employee had on gloves(latex, leather who knows) for some strange reason. I am sure thats how the exchange began.
Prob something like so whats with the gloves”
If the cashier is wearing latex gloves it is reasonable to wonder why. He could be infectious or maybe a germophobe. No reason for the cashier to get pissy if that’s what happened.
“When I encounter these scowling types at check out I always ask,So what are you pissed off about?
It usually gets the reply of a grunt.”
How often are you told its none of your F’in business?
Based on the direction the courts have been heading (no longer feel it necessary to show “criminal intent” to get conviction; stacking bogus charges with intent to make defense financially infeasible; seizure of cash/ freezing accounts ), the defender probably has to prove he didn’t.
Very well stated and all very true.
I have had electricians and plumbers tell me the grade of products related to those fields is less than those sold at electrical and plumbing supply outlets.
They tell me the gauge of the metal is thiner on things like Squrare D boxes and plumbing fixtures.
I only go there for lawn and garden if that.
Its 20 minutes away and 20 minutes to track down some one that knows any thing vs regular supply houses that are closer and with staff that goes to the back and come out with what I need the 1st time.
How often are you told its none of your Fin business?
Never
I find the HD employees at the East Palo Alto store and the Sunnyvale store to be pleasant enough. The big problem is they are 1) exceedingly hard to find and 2) do not know much about their merchandise. The best hardware store by far around here is the True Value in Los Altos.
The faucets and fixtures at big box are NOT the same quality even though they can look exactly the same. Same manufacturer, same part number DIFFERENT quality. The latest Free Traitor trick con job.
Also on numerous occasions taken the time to check out and go back to the managers counter and advise them the clerk I just ran into has a shit attitude and should be fired. They usually thank me and I am sure consider me the ass hole.
But hey makes me feel better and after all, these days isn’t it all about ME
Funny - a old guy makes a sexual slur and gets arrested - a budding terrorist, who fits all the warning signs, makes terrorist threats, gets questioned a couple times and is let loose to commit an atrocity.
They do carry “homeline” square D products that are definitely not the same grade as electrical supply houses.
Another thing is the tools. Dewalt (and all the others) sells tools through Home Depot that look identical to those available through contractor supply stores, and unless you compared the model nmbers wouldn’t know a difference until you put them through their paces. The cheaper tools available at Home Depot won’t last as long for a contractor, but are plenty good nearly always even for a very busy DIY homeowner.
The same way he would prove a "hate crime" -- by reading your mind. Here's a modern prosecutor hard at work...
“”How often are you told its none of your Fin business?””
“Never”
Obviously you dont work in Brooklyn. :-)
Asking people why they are pizzed off just irritates them more. If did that to me we would have a problem.
The man’s problem was that he lives is West Hartford, CT. Ha does not live in America
Or . . . if the gloves he wore were from the store and not paid for.
This is for real? Arrested for saying something?
He got married a couple of weeks ago. Wife lives over in the boss's house. Seems like Curley is cockier'n ever since he got married."George grunted, "Maybe he's showin' off for his wife."
The swamper warmed to his gossip. "You seen that glove on his left hand?"
"Yeah. I seen it."
"Well, that glove's fulla vaseline."
"Vaseline? What the hell for?"
"Well, I tell ya what-Curley says he's keepin' that hand soft for his wife."
George studied the cards absorbedly. "That's a dirty thing to tell around," he said.
I have some persons whom I manage that wear gloves at work because they are total germophobes. If the previous operator was ill, some of them even wipe down their station with antiseptic wipes.
