California congressmen wrote a letter to state attorney general Kamala Harris claiming the freedom of speech is not designed to protect fraud and deceit of the likes being spread by oil company ExxonMobil about global warming.
Nineteen Democratic lawmakers told Harris her investigation as to whether ExxonMobil lied about the truth of climate change and misled investors does not constitute an effort to silence speech or scientific research.
The First Amendment protects freedom of speech, but it does not protect companies from defrauding the American people or improperly disclosing information to their shareholders, lawmakers, including California Reps. Maxine Waters and Ted Lieu, wrote to Harris.
Harris joined attorneys general from New York, Massachusetts and the U.S. Virgin Islands in investigating Exxons global warming stance based on reporting by liberal journalists.
(snip)
California Democrats dont seem to care about Exxons right to free speech, since they think the company was perpetuating a massive disinformation campaign all while somehow running one of the worlds largest oil companies.
Democrats wrote the oil industry began a coordinated campaign of mass deception as to the truth of climate science spreading doubt and confusion among the public and ultimately sinking climate action in Congress.

And the Washington Post. And the New York Times. And .....
Arrest that congressman. He took an oath to defend the constitution.
To me, they resemble bitter, corrupt scum lamenting the loss of their easy money.
We don’t need clueless morons who have no concept or clue as to why the Constitution was written in the first place in office. That sword can cut two ways a-holes. They need to be out of office and unemployed ASAP.
Only “good people” (as defined by the Left) are protected by the Constitution.
Then I would think the loony Democrats believe that the First Amendment wouldn’t protect Obama lying about “you can keep your doctor” and “you will save $2500 per year in health costs,” and Hillary’s barrage of lies.
Arrest THOSE congressmen. He took an oath to defend the constitution.
In a sane World these congressmen should be recalled impeached or at least tarred and feathered...
It does too protect fraud and deceit, which is why politicians cannot be sued for broken campaign promises. People have tried.
Then you and your fellow Democrats had better learn how to keep your cake holes shut Kamala.
Same ol’ same ol’.
It is projection.
It is right out of Alinsky’s book.
Always accuse your opponent of what you are doing.
‘Fraud and deceit’ is what government is all about. How evil these con artists are about the stupidity and wrong-headedness of the gorebal warming conspiracy.
But the Second Amendment protects us sgainst treason.
One the government finishes dismantling the 2nd Amendment, it will be easy to dismantle the 1st.
I guess some speech is more equal than other speech? Tell me Mr Congressman, who gets to decide? What’s that look like 20 years from now? ... Got it? Has it sunk in yet what a terrible idea you just put forth? Starting to realize you’re in over your head, that you’re not smart enough for this job, that maybe you should sit down and STFU? Well, don’t worry, it’s obvious to the rest of us.
1st Ammendment might not protect skeptics but the Second will.
“To me, they resemble bitter, corrupt scum lamenting the loss of their easy money.”
Bingo!
IMHO
What you mention are fiction lies, meaning that it was at least theoretically possible that he could have been telling the truth but don’t forget that he also told a fantasy lie meaning that there is no way possible that it could have ever been true. What I refer to is the statement that some companies would see a 2800 percent reduction in their costs for healthcare. A 2800 percent reduction in anything is a MATHEMATICAL impossibility. I suppose though that he may be deranged enough not to even know that, so maybe lying is the wrong term, maybe he is just too ignorant to realize what he was saying.
