Way back in February of 1998, Osama Bin Laden declared a Jihad against Jews and Crusaders in a written document entitled the “World Islamic Front Statement.”
In that document he specifically stated:
The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies — civilians and military — is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it
Despite this, with just a few notable exceptions over the years, few Muslims answered Bin Laden’s call to kill Americans.
Bin Laden was of course killed by U.S. Special Operations forces in May 2011.
Since then, we have seen many more attacks here in the U.S.
Why? If Osama Bin Laden was not able to inspire Muslims to attack and kill Americans, why are we seeing so many such attacks in recent years?

My bet is that there will be at least one more big attack and maybe even a few small ones, between now and November, they just can’t help themselves.

Osama bin Laden was a terrorist but not apocolyptic. ISIS, like Iran, is an apocolyptic cult. They are trying to provoke the end of the world.

I think it is a tactical issue.
If you attack a lightly guarded gathering of cartoonists in Texas, you kill nobody and die. If you attack a lightly guarded gay bar in Florida, you can kill 50, wound 53, and then die.
One would be viewed as a success; the other as failure.
Each individual actor is trying to choose circumstances that maximize the damage to the enemy. They don't want to end up like those robbers who chose the wrong McDonald's to rob in France. The one with eleven armed special forces having lunch.
If I remember correctly, after 9-11 there was a call by Al-quida to convert more westerners to islam so they could be used for attacks inside the USA and Europe.
Instead, Europe and the USA just opened their doors so all those islamic “refugees” could stream in and become jihadis.
They have a US president who won’t stop them before they act and will excuse them (and friends, family, allies) after they act. And European leaders who followed the US long enough for the terrorists to get inside and acquire some control and a base for more attacks.
Because of the president’s excuses and inaction, many people become afraid rather than resolved to defeat them. And that’s what they want. A terror attack is useless if it brings people together rather than make them fear. And is harmful if results in counter-attacks greater than the original attack. It works if the results are terror, and debate over gun control, and divisiveness as people blame each other instead of the attackers. And every time it works it encourages another.
And it doesn’t take a president with a favoritism for Muslims. Hillary will be just as bad simply by being a “sensitive lefty”. And will put all Muslims into a group (as lefties do) which she doesn’t want to offend (can’t blame 1.6 billion for actions of a few). If she does win we need some group to pay her foundation enough to do something about the problem. As much as her tendencies are to be like Obama with terrorism she likes $$$. It’ll be costly since they’ll be competing against Saudis and other Muslim groups who want the US to be destroyed.
