The shooter who killed 20 and wounded 42 at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Omar Mir Siddique Mateen, was a registered Democrat who has voted in at least 3 recent general elections, according to voters.findthedata.com. He registered to vote on July, 19,2006, but skipped the election that November. But he voted by absentee ballot in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections, presumably for his party’s candidate, Barack Obama.

I must have watched a different news conference. I saw the one hosted by the Orlando Police department. There was an Imaan there, supposedly the senior guy for Orlando, who spoke. Said wonderful things about how great the response was, need to pray for families. Not once did he say anything bad about the shooter or condemn the act. He didn’t even say it was wrong.
I was hoping for a question: “Sir, exactly what does the Koran say about killing homosexuals.” I’m sure someone would object calling that kind of question “devise” when we need to “come together in our grief”.
Ya know, I was secretly glad at his choice of targets and was keeping it to myself. But if you are on board I am on board.
