Incumbent Republican Rep. Renee Ellmers has been defeated by another Republican incumbent, Rep. George Holding, in the 2nd Congressional District, the AP projects.
Holding was ahead 52 percent to 24 percent with about two-thirds of precincts reporting. Holding represented the old 13th District, which covered the Raleigh area before moving west to the Triad.
The 2nd District race featured the only two Congressional incumbents running against each other in an American primary this year. It garnered more national attention when Donald Trump endorsed Ellmers.

No length of coattails was going to rescue Ellmers. She’d ticked off the folk in her district pretty badly.

Well, Trump endorsed. He even recorded a robo message for phone calls on her behalf. When asked why he endorsed her, Trump said that she was the first congressman to endorse him. She is open borders and everything else. God help us with Trump.
Trump wanted a token woman who could negate Paul Ryan.
Especially someone close to leadership.
Trump has been shunned by every woman in GOP office. Not because he’s sexist, but because most of them are RINO morons.

I have come to the conclusion that the GOPe exists to give the appearance of a choice and to make sure there is no meaningful opposition to the elites.
