Man who Donald Trump called "my African-American" speaks out
CBS News ^ | June 4, 2016 | Reena Flores

But the man called out by Trump -- Gregory Cheadle, a Republican candidate in California's first congressional district -- didn't seem to mind the attention.

"I never, ever sensed any racism on his part," Cheadle told CBS News in a phone interview Saturday. "Looking at it now, I can see on a script -- in a transcript, or even somebody watching the clip -- I can see how they would jump to the conclusion that it was racist. But I never felt anything at all."

Trump talks so fast he often cuts off the last word in a phrase or sentence. It’s a N.Y. thing. We don’t misunderstand what he’s saying. He is speaking for us and we know what he is saying.

In the days of Drew Scott, Trump would have had to give him back to Hillary.

Despite Trump's call out to him, Cheadle has not yet decided who to vote for in November. He said that he attended the Trump rally to keep "an open mind" about the presidential candidates.

"I wanted to see for myself who he was," he said. "I just wanted to hear him. Did he sway my vote one way or the other? No. What he did do was he did inspire me."

This was an interesting addition to the story.

I'm glad he came to the defense of Trump, but who is he thinking of voting for at this late stage of the race? Cruz? Hillary!?

Note, he's running on the Republican ticket in CA. There's no reason he should be thinking of voting for anyone else at this point. It's not like he's a Democrat, at least not in name.

Maybe you remember Joe Kennedy? Ambassador to England until he told them Hitler was going to kick their ass?

But in the US, they all vote, and don’t appreciate being told that their Nazis just because of their ancestry. Bad electioneering, Hillary. Do keep it up.

The use of “my” is vernacular. “My boy,” “my man,” it’s very hip and cool ghetto talk.

Also it was a kind of joke on having a token black person.

Trump has to learn he’s dealing with humorless tone-deaf idiots in the media. All humor is a land mine when you’re dealing with idiots.
