President Barack Obama declares June as African-American Music Appreciation Month

ATLANTA (CBS46) - President Barack Obama has recently announced that June is African-American Music Appreciation Month.

In a statement released through the White House he says, "A vital part of our Nation's proud heritage, African-American music exemplifies the creative spirit at the heart of American identity and is among the most innovative and powerful art the world has ever known. "

Obviously, anything Obama says is pretty stupid to begin with. But, black musicians have been great innovators and gave quite a lot of creative energy to music. Of course, Obama's too interested in creating division to know what most have known for decades.

Ever since Chuck Berry played Maybellene, we've loved rock and roll, and didn't care one bit who played it.

Music, like sports has probably been an area that has brought more different kinds of people together than anything the politicians try to do.

Every month is black music appreciation month, and on almost every station. Almost all American music has massive black roots.
