Why Trump Might Win (Robert Reich, of all people)
RCP ^ | Robert Reich

Posted on 05/24/2016 4:49:08 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Throughout the Republican primaries, pundits and pollsters repeatedly told us he’d peaked, that his most recent outrageous statement was his downfall, that he was viewed as so unlikeable he didn’t stand a chance of getting the nomination.

But in my travels around the country I’ve found many who support him precisely because of the qualities he’s being criticized for having.

A Latina-American from Laredo, Texas, tells me she and most of her friends are for Trump because he wants to keep Mexicans out. She thinks too many Mexicans have come here illegally, making it harder for those here legally.

A union member from Pittsburgh says he’s for Trump because he’ll be tough on American companies shipping jobs abroad, tough with the Chinese, tough with Muslims.

A small businessman in Cincinnati tells me he’s for Trump because “Trump’s not a politician. He’ll give them hell in Washington.”

Political analysts have underestimated Trump from the jump because they’ve been looking through the rear-view mirror of politics as it used to be.

Trump’s rise suggests a new kind of politics. You might call it anti-politics.

The old politics pitted right against left, with presidential aspirants moving toward the center once they cinched the nomination.

Anti-politics pits Washington insiders, corporate executives, bankers, and media moguls against a growing number of people who think the game is rigged against them. There’s no center, only hostility and suspicion.

The game IS rigged against them. And the insiders want to keep it that way. That's why Mittens keeps filling his depends about Trump.

Trump might win?

It's kind of enjoyable to see the dawning of understanding as reality smacks people in the face. It has taken way, way too long for that to happen.

If Hillary is the nominee Trump might sweep all 57 states.

Reich made some commendable points......
.....but he also called Trump ‘snide’ and a ‘bully’

I don’t need Reich’s ...’damned with faint praise’ ....remarks to tell me who Donald Trump is.

I know Trump as the best man on the political scene since Ronald Reagan!

The old politics pitted right against left, with presidential aspirants moving toward the center once they cinched the nomination with the globalist minority in both parties rubbing their hands together and smiling as they dissolved America.

Fixed it.

Where is it written that Republicans have to play nice and get/go along with Democrats? Probably on Paul Ryan’s speakers gavel. I want a Speaker who will use that gavel and majority to bludgeon democrats. That’s what they do when they have the majority. Hell, they even use it on their fellow democrats to keep them in line. I want a President who will expose the rats, clean up and dissolve agencies, prosecute corrupt bureaucrats and politicians, and take an axe to the Federal Register to create a business climate where companies can thrive and create good jobs in America. Only a businessman can do what needs to be done. Politicians will only screw it up more.

I've made this statement many times:

Politicians, the intellectual elite, and the media overestimate the stupidity of the American public. People whose economic, social, and physical well being is threatened EVERY DAY follow things quite closely. We have to for survival.

Trump didn't talk down to us. He used plain talk to make problems and solutions interesting to listen to. No wonder the elite are SHOCKED!! They've never had their superiority complexes challenged before.

If they ever make Married With Children II I'm pretty sure she'll walk into Al Bundy's shoe store.

People view and rightfully so that Trump is a leader, a doer, a creator. They view Hillary are as scheming liar, thief and corrupt individual. Now you see why America will vote for Trump.

“A Latina-American from Laredo, Texas, tells me she and most of her friends are for Trump because he wants to keep Mexicans out. She thinks too many Mexicans have come here illegally, making it harder for those here legally.”

I have been baffled for years why more Hispanics do not understand this... If you are a low skilled low educated worker (not racist, just statistically) why would you want more competition for those kind of jobs? It either suppresses your wage or someone replaces you for .25 an hour less. I guess the lack of education and forethought part explains that... still you would think they would have woken up by now.
