Report: Gingrich Lobbying To Be Trump’s Running Mate
hotair.com ^ | May 23, 2016

Posted on 05/23/2016 2:18:41 PM PDT by Helicondelta

Actual quote from Ed Rollins about the fact that a Trump/Gingrich ticket would have six wives between them: “They certainly understand women.”

...

Gingrich has a reputation for insinuating himself into campaigns by firing off dozens of e-mails brimming with ideas that range from brilliant to insane. While it’s a quality that has irritated previous presidential candidates such as John McCain and Mitt Romney, sources say that Trump has come to value the former speaker’s opinions.

“They talk every day,” says a source familiar with the relationship, who claims that Gingrich e-mails Trump, campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and campaign manager Corey Lewandowski “countless times a day.” On Friday, the source says Gingrich sent five messages after lunch, musing on everything from Fox host Megyn Kelly’s interview with Trump to Trump’s recently announced list of potential Supreme Court nominees to ideas for targeting Bernie Sanders’s voters…

We’re sorry for you, Brit.

It sounds bad over there.

C’mon over, if you can. We’re going to need the manpower and the spotters.

I like Newt, but this would be a mistake. Trump needs someone who can complement him. Newt is a very strong personality and he’s an older man. I would much rather see Trump choose someone who can bring other talents to the table.

I’ve mentioned before that I like Allen West, but a qualified woman might also be a good addition.

A lot of people have said he’d make a good chief of staff which I agree with so long as his ego doesn’t get in the way.

Trump's ego is big enough to neutralize Gingrich's ego if necessary. Gingrich is a bit too much of a futurist for my sake. I believe they are compatible temperamentally. Gingrich also needs enough of an ego as Chief of Staff or whatever to push back when necessary. He has the confidence of is brains, knowledge and judgment to be that needed foil.

He jumped on the Trump train early, and he's entitled to extra consideration for that.

73 years old now in 2016 can be compared to 63 or younger two decades ago.

A friend of mine spoke to a 93 year old local today. Still driving, still working the farm. Totally with it!

I’d take Newt over any other VP candidates any day of the week.

Have you ever listened to him speak, or read anything he wrote? Amazing, convincing, awesome! (As good, if not better than Cheney.)

Besides all that, he made Clinton triangulate. LOVE it!

Maybe you aren’t seasoned enough yet to appreciate that with age comes WISDOM.

I will entertain anyone who isn’t a globalist or an elitists. They are why we are in dire straights right now.

Do you have access to American talk radio? We can’t get any real British media - I don’t count BBC America which just shows Top Gear and old Gordon Ramsey tv shows (not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I do have British friends on Facebook who are VERY conservative - have you tried there?

Hope you continue posting your thoughts. I find it amazing that there’s no alternative in your country. We need an FR Great Britain!

Optimally, I’d love to have someone who could run for president in 4 to 8 years.

“Trump could do worse, a lot worse.”

I agree with that. In total I think Newt would help the ticket.

‘I like Allen West’

As do I. He’d be a stellar choice.

[Btw, it won’t be Gingrich. Trump is making a deal with the American people. His veep will be part of the sale. Gingrich is like Cruz; he has a small, strong niche appeal. Trump will choose a running mate capable of exciting and inspiring a much broader swath of the electorate.]

You might be surprised how many millionaires and just a couple of billionaires I know. I have known at least 15 people that have the malady I spoke of. They change wives more than I change cars, that is until their testosterone levels and sex drive drops then they have to settle for middle ages beauties.

If you open your eyes you can see it, but that would require some attention to detail.

Agree, Gingrich would be a buzzkill for Trump as VP, like returning to `95 when Slick hurt his feelings by `snubbing’ him on AF1. Anything but veep.
Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you. I do hope very much that Newt would have a significant and active role in any Trump administration, but I would rather see Trump grooming a young, tough, successor, man or woman. A veteran of one or more of the neocon’s Sand Wars would be ideal; one who could bring a veteran’s perspectives, like President Eisenhower, to the legitimate military needs of the nation contrasted with the tendency towards slush and creep.
