New Yorks Gabriel Sherman is reporting that in addition to being a ratings and financial failure, Megyn Kellys interview with Donald Trump has resulted in her losing most of the leverage she had in her upcoming contract negotiations.
Fox executives were willing to consider 9 million viewers a success, but Kellys supposedly mainstream appeal didnt translate to the parent network, and she only netted 4.8 million viewers. It was, as one Fox insider told Sherman, not good for her at all.
In fact, her boss Roger Ailes was apparently so tickled by the fact that he would not have to pay her a reported $25 million to remain at Fox News that he was heard snickering in a Thursday meeting when the special was mentioned.
In the days since, Kelly has been working to contain the fallout. She took aim at critics on her cable show Wednesday night by deploying an age-old Fox News tactic: claiming the backlash was a result of liberal media bias. But behind the scenes, she is said to be worried about the response. Shes very upset with the show reaction, and in hindsight with how it was produced, one Fox veteran told me

Good points.
It’s probably already been said several times in this thread, but Meggin’ was not going to get the Trump supporters as viewers. Every objective person knew her first debate performance and questions was snarky, smart-assed and not appropriate for a presidential debate.
Her intent was to damage Trump and there was no way his supporters were going to reward her by being part of the audience for her big special. Reasonably objective and honest folks everywhere knew that.
Your a true FRiend and you would never offend me....8>)
I think youve hit on the problem. I dont have cable either, but have read on this forum that the Megyn Kelly special was aired on the Fox broadcast network I receive by antenna. I seldom watch that channel and saw no advertising about the special. Id have tuned in to watch Trump.
I think it’s the giggling.
Because their(my) desire to not watch Meggin' was stronger than their desire to watch Trump. And there is no shortage of opportunities to see Trump anyway.
Seems to me one of MK’s problems is she’s making it about herself....she’s not supposed to be the news, she’s supposed to report it. Maria Bartiromo does a much better job IMO.
And now that she is not looking so cute..it’s a lot harder to get away with acting too cute.
I agree. I take it back.
Hey, Megyn - “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18 KJV)
That...is...not...a...flattering...photograph.
Exactly
Apparently, she doesn’t think very far ahead.
Same with me. I absolutely refuse to watch Megyn Kelly...even though I wanted to see Trump. I have friends who also refuse to watch her now. I would say that was the problem with her ratings...not the producers, lol.
I try to watch FNC but I see right through them now. They don’t tell the whole truth - they are biased.
I can watch Greta and I can watch Hannity. But that’s it.
I don’t think having it on the Fox Broadcast Channel instead of the Fox News Channel didn’t help either.
Ping
It's from Salon... of course it's not true. They probably think they're poking "conservatives" by bashing Megyn. Problem is, she's already doing a good job at being unlikable, so they can bash her all they like... I don't care.
It wasn’t on cable. It was on the regular Fox broadcast channel, the same channel that airs Dancing With the Stars. Making my point that it was a mistake putting it on the broadcast channel and not their regular News Channel.
“Still, unless there is a boycott in place, why didnt more people tune in to watch Trump?”
Easy - the people that love Trump DESPISE her attitude at the first debate and would rather excise her from their lives...so who else is left to watch? And, by the way, the butch doo isn’t doing her any good either.
Yup. I didn’t know it was on.
I’m going to keep track, going forward, here:

I agree.
