Trump Now Leading In National Poll Averages
Ricardo R. Galvan Sunday, May 22, 2016
Despite claims by the media that Trump would likely lose the election against Hillary (while absurdly claiming that John Kasich performed the best in a head on fight with Clinton), the RCP average of national polls now gives Trump a slight edge. The Hill reports:
Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has overtaken Democratic front-runnerHillary Clinton in an average of head-to-head national polls, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls.
Trump leads Clinton by 0.2 percentage points, 43.4 percent to 43.2 percent in the average, overtaking the Democratic front-runner for the first time in the average of polls.
snip...
Also of interest is the over or under sampling of voter groups in national polls that have given Hillary a lead. The latest New York Times poll samples Democrats at 8% over Republicans. Gallup in 2015, on the other hand, gave the Democrats only a 3% edge over their rivals. The New York Times also under samples Independents, giving them only a representation of 34%. Organizations like Gallup are reporting record high numbers of Independents within the 40% range. Donald Trump, of course, is dominating with independents on a national level.
I fear that once Sanders is out of the picture, most of his supporters will begrudgingly back her (much as I now back Trump) and she’ll pick up 5 or 6 points.
OMG great post by the way.
With words even truer and prettier.
Because like you, I sit and watch the Dems, all of them KNOWING Hillary is not going to work.
Because if nothing else, Donald Trump is going to bring up the infidelities, the mean-ness of this woman, the scandals of her past.
Without the Lamestream media able to bottle it up, the American voters are going to hear all about this and like you said, the Democrats are so beholden to Hillary and that corrupt Clinton foundation that they will stand numbly by her side as she implodes.
Yeah, the notion makes me smile.
Interesting graphs. Trump has a gift being able to pinpoint people’s weaknesses with a word or two - and it sticks. (low energy, lying, crooked)
He out-Alinskys the left. He labels better than they do ;)
I can’t believe we are still manufacturing the same number of products. Where is this happening? Former manufacturing states are economic wastelands.
Some are producing expensive products because they can’t complete with China on the cheap ones. Trump will have to get rid of the unions if bringing jobs back here has a chance of working.
And Wal mart has increased our standard of living? Their products are all pretty much disposable. The clothes are paper thin compared to what they sold 5 years ago. Maybe for the short term, it’s cheaper to but there but when you have to replace things more often that changes. Now toothpaste, shampoo - yes, those are cheaper there. So I’ll give you 5% ;)
Being genetically prone to the glass half-full idea and cautious, I do want to see where we and our guy stand once the Democrats coalesce around their nominee, after their coming chaotic convention (after Sanders wrecks the stage there). :)
The thing I hold to mostly is that the Left, even the pundits, are sick of Hillary Clinton.
While they are all giving the institutional bad-time to TRUMP, they do not appear in large numbers to personally
despise him any more than they already despise Hillary.
Stunned that even Chris Matthews covers everything TRUMP says and in context when they cover him at all. It is unbelievable. Of course, Chris throws insults for attention
but adds, often, that his brother is all-in for TRUMP and has been a Republican stalwart for decades.
He may be waiting till this years is filed to make it look better than last years. I think he has till Aug/Sept if he filed an extension. I suppose a lot of it will depend on how many of the beneficial decisions are locked in and how many are adjustable.
This only serves to remind us that Trump is by no means DOA like many predict. I for one think he will win this election.
LOL - yep - innocent mistake...
Dave, my best friend is an import export broker. Your imported $62 shirt actually costs Brooks Brothers a little more than $6 to have manufactured and shipped over here from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh, or India. Of that cost labor makes up 20 or 30 cents.
The odd thing is that most of the companies which are still making clothing in this country currently have mostly Vietnamese or other immigrants from the countries mentioned making the clothes over here on the same type of machinery they learned to make clothes with in their home countries. Once a manufacturing sector is lost here a generation of skill sets is lost along with the jobs.
The companies still manufacturing clothing in this country generally cater to specialty markets and they are sold at relatively high prices but at a much lower markup than imported clothing. Usually they are a much higher quality product and for many applications this is worth it to the customers of the companies. The best example that I can think of is Filson. Filson clothing has properties that are highly desirable to people who work in the challenging conditions found in the remote oil fields found in Northern Alaska. The men and women who purchase Filson products find the added durability they need in a remote location to be worth the extra money they spend initially.
I understand completely what you are saying. I believe that clothing could be manufactured here and sold at reasonable prices and not just specialty markets. But it is definitely not going to happen in the current environment. I think that there are other sectors of manufacturing that would have a better chance of thriving. Mostly items with higher shipping expenses. That is why automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment still have a chance and should be preserved as much as possible. Once they go... they are mostly gone for good.
