Donald Trump may be the last Republican standing in the 2016 race, but that doesn't mean everyone in his party is happy about it.
At the Washington state Republican convention this weekend, 40 of the state's 41 elected GOP delegates went not to Trump but to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Trump's primary challenger in the race.
The Seattle Times reports that even Trump's state campaign chairman in Washington, state Sen. Don Benton, didn't snag a delegate slot in the anti-Trump crowd.
Cruz's state campaign manager, Saul Gamoran, said many Washington state Republicans are "taking a wait-and-see attitude" to Trump's candidacy.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Trump's primary challenger in the GOP race, picked up 40 of 41 delegates at the Washington state GOP convention this weekend.
In theory, Washington Republicans' delegate move will have little effect: despite electing delegates at this state convention, those delegates are bound to vote according to the statewide results in this Tuesday's upcoming Washington primary.

The voters will vote on Tuesday and nullify this.
The Caucus needs to be abolished since is does not reflect actual voters’ preferences.
“The voters will vote on Tuesday and nullify this.”
No doubt it will nullify the choices they have on the first ballot. I think most of us at the convention realize that Trump will be the nominee, and that the delegates would be casting a vote for Mr. Trump. The point was not to defeat Trump, but to guide the platform.
You have your heavily lib urban areas, a couple college towns, and the rest of the state is relatively sane.
If Seattle/Tacoma/Bellevue sank into the sea, Washington would be a red state, I’d bet.
What’s funny is the return of the Pat Robertson plan to the State GOP. Robertson took over the caucuses in 1988. Cruz is just playing the same game, but this time as a result of the Robinson rebellion the delegates are pledged to the primary results for the first ballot.
It would tickle me no end to watch one of the Cruz slate of delegates have to announce to the convention and the world that the great state of Washington puts Trump over the top for the nomination. I bet they’d look they just drank a glass of unsweetened lemon juice. Ha!
“unsweetened lemon juice”-is better than the koolaid liberals in cities drink-it is sour, but reality based...
MrT5 was from the liberal hell of Seattle-I kidnapped him when the Army sent him here to Texas-he only went back to Seattle to visit after that...
Chris Vance had a slim chance to ride the Trump wave and unseat Murray, the dumbest Senator.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t suppress his inner Romney and announced himself as clueless #NeverTrump crustless sandwich munching, go-along-to-get-along dirtweasle eunuch GOPe poltroon.
He’s defeated before he even starts, and rightfully so.
“Hes defeated before he even starts...”
Yeah - not a smart move. I heard him speak awhile ago at our district convention and he said he didn’t agree with Trump on some things. The one I remember is about trade, and how Washington State exports a lot of stuff (airplanes, wheat, apples, etc.) and he was concerned with how Trump’s trade views would affect that.
But that is stuff that should, and I imagine will be brought up and discussed with a President Trump. I guess he is doing what he thinks is best for his campaign. But I think he guessed wrong in not giving at least a polite, politician style support to Mr. Trump.
I concur with that and there looks to be a meeting of the minds between reasonable people.
Good!
Yep.
Nice.
Wow!
SMH
:)
Self deportation works in many ways.
And Bryant won’t commit to voting for Trump at this point ... what a disappointment.
In what way would they be acting differently if they did?
