PASCO Donald Trump has all but sewn up the GOP presidential nomination. But as thousands of Washington Republicans converged on a rodeo arena for their state convention over the weekend, the gathering didnt look like a political party yet united behind a Trump-led ticket.
Red Ted Cruz T-shirts outnumbered Trump ball caps on the convention floor at the TRAC Center, and supporters of the Texas senator won 40 of the 41 elected delegate slots for the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this summer even though Cruz has dropped out of the race.
...snip...
Amid talk of Republican unity, pockets of the Never Trump movement remained on the convention floor. The Cruz supporters said they wont unite behind a man they view as unprincipled and dangerous.
Steven Wilson, a delegate from Normandy Park wearing a star-spangled cowboy hat, said he will write someone in on the November ballot rather than vote for Trump, whom he described as a narcissist whos flip-flopped so many times you dont know whether you can trust him.
Standing next to him, Alex Binz, a teacher from Kirkland, said he is worried enough about Trumps fascist streak to actually vote for Hillary Clinton. God help me, he said, rolling his eyes and leaning backward at the previously unthinkable prospect.
At least with Clinton, Binz said, youd know what you are getting. One of them is crazy in an expected way. The other is crazy in a totally unexpected and totalitarian way.

Fascist, streak? Less government intrusion in our lives. Defense of all amendments to the Constitution. Creating American jobs. Gee, doesn’t quite sound like fascism to me.
Yup.
Doesn’t matter the state convention backed Cruz.
On Tuesday, GOP voters in WA state will go big for Trump.
And he will get all 44 delegates.
Very good. However, it works!
The saving grace. They have to honor the will of the voters for the 1st round, and with Trump well north of the minimum number of delegates by the convention, it's a done deal.
Breathlessly reporting on him would not mean that he is representative of the vast majority.
Similarly, I don't think one lonely Cruz supporter who is thinking of voting for Hillary is somehow a barometer of Washington State Republicans.

Quote of the day. In fact, I'm borrowing it for my tag line. Thanks!
Gads what a bunch of idiots on both sides of the state. I am ashamed I live in this State, but I can’t move.
So wait...!Cruz drops out...a group of supporters decide to have a tethering (that Cruz did not attend) yet Cruz is the problem? I bet you every asset I hold that if a bogus article were posted attacking Cruz there’d be 50+ in reply jumping on the gang wagon regardless of its truthfulness..Enough is freakin enough...
As a Trump supporter (who likes Cruz as well) I figured it out long ago to get over this incessant need to keep bringing Cruz back into the fray. It’s futile, infantile, and quite frankly an utter waste of time.
The target is Hitlery...focus energy on her and the media...all others are a waste of time at present.
Have a gathering...damn autocorrect blows
In 30 years, some tattered Cruz supporter will come out of the jungle on some Pacific island and ask if the election is over and who won. ;-)
Cruz has a messiah complex. His followers believe that the mob has chosen Barabbas (Trump), but their messiah will rise again that reign over all.
The partisan in Washington are full of good elitist apparatchiks. Trump is taking their club, their plaything, away from them. Hostile takeover - and Trump will win the voters this week, by a large margin, leaving all those good clubby party loons voting for him on the first ballot. Delicious. The Republican Party of Washington long ago became elitist, slightly-lite Democrats. The most ineffective state party apparatus in the nation. Their comeuppance this week will be a beautiful thing.
They will be. Delegates are bound to the state winner on the first ballot. Cruz is lucky to even be at the convention.
Which shows two things. First, that a number of Cruz supporters are not rational (and many of the bad things they say about Trump supporters actually apply more to them). Second, that a number of Cruz supporters are not Conservatives. They might CLAIM that they are, but someone willing to vote for Hillary, knowing the impact of any number of things (eg the Supreme Court) is not a Consevative.
A number of Cruz supporters are simply spoilt children who'd rather destroy everything if they're not given ice cream for breakfast (I would have called them Cruz cultists, but that's more vitriol than logic and I prefer logic, but let's just say that would apply as well). The fact that their man was not supported by most voters made them feel so bad that they'd rather not just let Hillary win by not voting for Trump, but some would even take the active step of actually VOTING for Hillary.
You shall judge them by their fruits, and if Cruz ever runs again that is an important thing for people to remember. Basically, if his supporters can be 'Never Trump,' then what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and 'never Cruz' is just as apt.
Since Cruz dropped out, it is more an anti-Trump than a pro-Cruz result.
Cruz people might as well have been wearing Hillary t-shirts. Same thing.
I am amazed at how many blind and ignorant people there are living in the state of Washington. Cruz, the repellent, arrogant elitist continues to fool you. George Washington would be incredulous.
DJT loves people, is a uniter, and has been gracious towards Cruz since he “suspended” his campaign. Cruz’s actions illustrate how he continues to deserve being squashed like the repulsive insect he is.
“You think I’m gone?”
More gone than a suicide bomber.
All that’s left is to scrape off the Cruz-goo from the walls.
Idiots.
