A shocking editorial in the Charlotte Observer counseled young girls to get over the "discomfort" they feel at the sight of male genitalia when transgender facilities are allowed in North Carolina. The newspaper assumes the law will eventually be repealed or declared illegal. While that may or may not happen any time soon, it is the justification for this position used by the Observer that reveals the true nature of this battle of the bathroom. Essentially these people are trying to make a statement. It was something I had long ago predicted -- militants, the ultimate narcissists, will do everything for validation.
What they're really saying is this: "I want to do or be what I damn well please, and everyone has to go along with it." It's a need for total control. By rejecting God, this person wants to create his/her/its fantasy world, to which we are all subservient.

The claim: Not just women, but ‘girls’ must ‘get over the “discomfort” they feel at the sight of male genitalia ...” in their bathrooms and showers! Pure hogwash. unadulterated insanity, bordering on - evil.
We ‘share’ our bathrooms at home - but fathers/sons do not enter and use the toilet or shower while their daughters/sisters are in there - nor Mothers/sisters intrude when sons/brothers are so occupied....
but we’re supposed to meekly allow this to happen among total strangers.with our children, let alone ourselves.
This edict by the president is NOT LAW - The Administrative Branch of our Gov’t does not make laws. (That’s why the Founding Fathers set up a ‘Separation of Powers” type of government - to protect us from would-be dictators.)
This latest edict from the president flies in the face of thousands of years of societal mores practiced by civilized peoples throughout the ages.
There have ALWAYS been a few, in any society, who act outside the accepted mores of their society. Doesn’t matter if they are right or wrong. But in so choosing, they should expect that their choices may not be sanctioned and accepted and integrated into the lives of everyone else.
Otherwise, societal mores disappear and anarchy follows and a society/country becomes vulnerable to takeover.
Now is the time for people - especially parents and students to reject this unlawful edict - refuse to comply and demand a halt to this insanity. .... (In the meantime - someone posited a suggestion that I thought had some merit. If the schools want to comply with this - let the transgenders use the FACULTY restrooms. At least that would protect our children.)

Excellent point. The girls have to be made uncomfortable because a boy doesn’t want to feel uncomfortable? It makes no sense. Their whole argument is that someone dressed as the opposite sex would feel uncomfortable using one restroom. But, the other girls and boys are being lectured not to feel so uncomfortable next to each other using public restrooms. They never see the ridiculousness in their own arguments.
I was agreeing with the poster who said that current values were far from what we grew up with, NOT the sentiment that we should “get over it.”

Well I guess I’m not part of “society” because I believe parents have the primary responsibility to protect their children, especially Fathers. Clearly I’m too old fashioned for society.
