Smoking, sure. Diet and exercise, sure. But I've never heard of a doc advising anyone to wear a seat belt, so I call BS on that. Physical safety issues are very different than preventative medical issues.
As far as them asking about gun ownership ....well, not only is it none of their damn business, but if you say yes to such an inquiry, prepare to be on gov't gun-grabbing lists forever. And that's what this is all about, especially now that O-Gangstacare has all but eliminated your medical privacy.
I tell my doc, I am always armed, he should feel safe.
Hey, Doc, can you say “Boundary Violation?”
It was long gone before Obamacare.
Should your gun dealer give you a prostate exam?
It's Time magazine. They're just lying to bolster their point.
One thing ALL liberals have in common is that they're incredible busybodies. Knowing everything about everybody makes everybody easier to control.
You summed it up in your post extremely well.
Having to repeat over again how that boating accident dumped all our firearms into the deepest part of a lake. A very big lake.
I thought that there was a part of Odungocare that prevent docs from asking.....
Should you change doctors?
The doctor asks me if i own guns I answer “what’s your favorite sexual position?” When they get all indignant and say “that’s personal” or “that’s none of your business!” I simply say “so is your questions about guns”. Game, set, match.
CC
"What kind of underwear are you wearing?"
"That's none of your business!"
"Then we are in agreement."
Alternatively you could list all the freedoms you exercise covered by the Bill of Rights
Well if they ever do ask, ask why it is relevant when 225,000 us citizens die by doctors each year while only 12,500 die by firearms. That’s like 20 to 1.
In a very few situations it would be required of an MD to ask about guns in the home.
One such situation would be a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. Someone suffering from such a malady should not have guns readily at hand. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s and we had to remove her 410 shotgun from the home.
Sometimes safety trumps the 2nd....
Thank God almighty that we have the 2nd amendment and are thus citizens and not subjects!
Hey Doc, all those diplomas on the wall, don’t they mean that you were trained to use knives to cut people apart and how much poison to apply to keep a person sub conscious while disemboweling them?
Maybe you shouldn’t be asking ME about guns.
two liberal lines of thought
1. Illegal aliens shouldn’t be able to be picked up and deported by the police, otherwise they couldn’t report crime. They would avoid the police.
They would be victimized.
2. U. S. Citizens should have to report to their doctors if they have guns, so the police can confiscate them. This would not cause them to avoid seeking help for depression.
They would not be victimized.
“O-Gangstacare has all but eliminated your medical privacy. “
Wait until the won’t allow you to buy health insurance if you own a gun.
Don’t expect me to be truthful.
“.......no federal or state laws prevent doctors from asking their patients about whether they have guns in the home.”
Recently was reinstating my VA, and was asked about depression, suicidal thoughts, and whether I had guns, or not.
As the above, no federal or state laws that I know of prevent me from the answer I gave. NO!
I was nice, and didn’t tell the VA nurse interviewer it was none of his business. I just said NO!
