In a very few situations it would be required of an MD to ask about guns in the home.

One such situation would be a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. Someone suffering from such a malady should not have guns readily at hand. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s and we had to remove her 410 shotgun from the home.

Sometimes safety trumps the 2nd....

Thank God almighty that we have the 2nd amendment and are thus citizens and not subjects!

Two things should be noted in that scenario:
(1) It had no governmental involvement, and
(2) the “we” indicates that it was family taking care of her, not the doctor.
