Ted Cruz and his allies are preparing for the coming National GOP Convention. According to NBC News, Cruz who recently attended a GOP convention in Texas told his supporters that the days ahead will be "challenging" for the Republican Party. He, however, expressed hope that those who remain loyal to him and the party "will be the remnant, will be the core of pulling this country back from the abyss."
Aside from this pronouncement, [he] has remained mum about whether he will throw his support for presumptive nominee Donald Trump. According to the NBC report, the support of Cruz and his allies in Texas is needed by Trump if he is squaring off with Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for the presidential elections. A Texan party elder, Steve Munisteri said that "Ted Cruz has led a national movement, a conservative movement. We certainly need solid conservatives to be behind our nominee [Trump.]"
... Cruz and his allies in the Republican Party are EYEING TO CONTINUE THEIR FIGHT TO RUN THE PARTY. Despite his failure to win over Trump, ... he is still hoping that when he attends the National Convention,... he will be able to bring about key changes in how the party governs itself and picks its presidential nominee. Aside from changes in rules, the party will also be working out its "official policy platform" as well as "determine how much power the RNC has to make new rules of its own."
>>The key discussion points, which will also be the likely flash points during the convention, will include CLOSED PRIMARIES. THIS MEANS DOING AWAY WITH OPEN PRIMARIES AND THE "CONSCIENCE CLAUSE," which will RELEASE CONSERVATIVE DELEGATES FROM SUPPORTING THE PRESUMPTIVE DELEGATE, should that delegate represent views that contradict theirs or the party.

I understand he will even let out a girlish scream as he realizes he’s on fire on live TV.
The NAU.
He could sit with Heidi as the new Emperor & Empress of the North American Union.
You are probably right. He wants to be more wealthy than Donald and wants more power.
Oh great, Barky wants to head the UN and have Cruz as the head of the NAU...I might have to leave America!!!
The reasoning behind allowing independents to vote in the party primaries (open ones) is in order to better reflect the will of the People, and to help select candidates which have viability for the general election.
What good does it do to nominate a party extremist if they can't garner enough votes to win a general election?
In any event, Donald Trump did well in both open and closed GOP primaries.
Ted Cruz, on the other hand, hardly won any primaries at all. Almost all of Ted Cruz's victories were in caucus states, which are sparsely attended and which rely on collectivist groupthink and peer pressure in order to grease the skids for the candidate favored by the party "insiders".
I have lost so much respect for Ted Cruz, I hope I'm never again faced with the need to vote for him for anything. He's an absolute disgrace at this point, talking past reality as if he can summon his own universe by endlessly repeating his hollow talking points.
I mean, come on, Ted, please get a grip. Either support your party's nominee or go away...
Vote Trump!
Of course we should be just like the Democrats in all things /s
Caucuses= Easy CHEATING
That is why Obama invested so much time and $$ there.
Swamp small places and cheat the vote. Win a state where .006% - 8% vote.
What will it take for him to just Go Away?!
Maybe Heidi relenting from her no sex for spite agenda.
I do wonder, though, how many people were for Ted Cruz a year ago and opposed to open primaries and how many of them rejected Cruz and closed primaries when Trump came along.
In other words, what looks like some kind of conspiracy now, is something that some (or even many) people here were in favor of a year ago.
Thanks. I’ve actually only seen a few episodes over the years.
Its starting Ted plans to sink up the convention. This child has a bad way about. I can see why his daughter pulled away from him.
I thought one of the amendments to the constitution made it so that state legislatures could no longer remove a sitting senator.
I would to God we still have that ability!
Steve sounds reasonable to me, he may have nothing to do with this particular plan of TeamCruz.
“Steve Munisteri said that “Ted Cruz has led a national movement, a conservative movement. We certainly need solid conservatives to be behind our nominee [Trump.]”
Steve is encouraging unity behind Trump, some are not listening.
Most of the closed primaries went for Trump - the ones that voted, not the crooked caucasus.
Can you imagine the hell we would all be going through on these pages if Jim, in his wisdom, hadn’t kicked a bunch of the crazy die hard Cruzers off the forum?
This news clipping would have started a bitter, pointless, flame war.
Thank you Jim, I actually enjoy FR again.
While many of the older states had procedures for the impeachment of a US Senator by a state legislature, those provisions were never executed because there was no provision in the US Constitution to allow it. Article VI of the US Constitution, aka the Supremacy Clause, makes it superior to all state constitutions.
The 17th Amendment only changed the method of election of US Senators and said nothing about possible removal.
Federal officers may only be removed by loss of an election, resignation, death or expulsion by his particular House of Congress. This issue has been litigated in both federal and state court, and is settled law.
It was NOT Cruz that led this movement and it hasn’t been Cruz supporters that have gotten this movement and started it and has gotten it to where it is: it has been TRUMP and TRUMP SUPPORTERS and we are STILL leading this movement of the People, by the People and for the People which are the American Voters!!!
Steve Munisteri said that Ted Cruz has led a national movement, a conservative movement B.S.!!!
We are ALL people, not just conservative, not just white; not just black; not just latinos; but ALL PEOPLE!!!
