As I said, predicting a VP choice is nearly impossible until the last minute because the situation is fluid. A candidate might need some help in a key state, based on current polling. Or the opponent might open up a new line of attack that needs a defense. A lot can change in a few weeks.
But as of today, and according to the Master Persuader filter, I put the odds at 90% than Trump picks Brown as his running mate.

Are you offended by honest observation?
There is very little air between Trump and Romney in background, except personality. The few issues upon which they might differ can’t really be argued with facts or evidence, because all we have from either of them are campaign promises. Words. Who knows what either of them would do when they sit in the Oval Office and theory becomes hard reality? Perhaps we’ll be finding out a year from now.
Had Romney not been such a wimp, he’d have won, but the man is colorless and has no fight in him. You can’t say that, at all, about Trump.
Huckabee is possible. Similar views to Trump, evangelical, fmr. Governor, good speaker, will stay on message, TV experience.
A guy like Kasich will pop off a lot and unlike Uncle Joe, he won’t get a pass on his gaffes.
Newt better for chief-of-staff or other high admin position or a czar appointment.
“I like Allen West. He wouldnt have lost his congressional seat if the Florida legislature hadnt redistricted him out of it.”
I also do not think the GOPe helped him at all during his re-election.
There is zero evidence that Scott Brown is even on the short list for VP. Newt is the man.
Yes somebody like Blackburn or Sessions would be a good sign.
My top 11...
Condoleezza Rice
Susana Martinez
Mitt Romney
Rob Portman
Ben Carson
Greg Abbott
Jan Brewer
Scott Brown
Newt Gingrich
Sarah Palin
Rick Scott
“I dont want 10 minutes of Cruz.
Then you really don’t understand the Constitution.”
I don’t think that is the issue. A lot of us who have been watching Ted over the last 6 months or so have seen something about his personality that has come out that just does not sit well with us. His actions after he “suspended” his campaign are even more shall I say “weird”. I know you probably do not agree with that.
No, Rooster, I don’t have a death wish, but I do have a good brain, and I like to discuss things. Surely you want Free Republic to be a safe place to talk about issues and concerns and how we’re going to save this country.
I’m solidly conservative and would hope that the pendulum swings back in my direction next year. In this troubled world, it’s a worry that it might not happen. I’m not planning any victory parties yet, just hoping.
Do you really wish metaphorical “death” upon anyone who raises a question or states an honest opinion or expresses frustration? Echo chambers aren’t healthy. Banding together in common purpose is.
See Post 83.
You’re skating on thin ice.
My pick is Newt. Newt has name recognition and has evolved into quite a likable person. If he can get along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the couch and behave himself, as well as engage in dialoge with the Left on Global Warming, he reveals his strength in a tough situation. As for his global warming on the couch with Nancy, he said, The dumbest thing Ive done in the last four years was sit on a couch with Nancy Pelosi, I cant defend it. Later, when he was accused of being on the couch with Man Made Global Warming, he said, he was trying to make a point that [Republicans] shouldnt be afraid to debate the Left, even on the environment. The man knows no fear because of his intellect and would be an asset to Trump in defeating the Socialist Democrats.
I understand the Constitution, all of it!
Section 1 of Article Two of the United States Constitution sets forth the eligibility requirements for serving as president of the United States, under clause 5:
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President
We don’t need Cruz, either.
“My guess is he will reach across the aisle to a moderate liberal”
I don’t agree with that. I think the main issue is jobs. These people see the jobs and towns going away and deteriorating. They want to put a stop to it and see Trump as the best candidate to reverse it.
I don’t have any doubts about Trump.
The only people I am dubious about is just about anyone in the GOP.
They are all absolute proven loser and failures on EVERYTHING.
If you want to fail, then you go with the GOP, who has never succeeded at anything.
As far as I am concerned, based upon their uninterrupted record of total failure, everyone in the GOP should resign.
Trump should pick John Miller as his VP.
I have come to hate the opuses (opera, actually) of great old Freepers.
Steve Forbes.
“Everyone has baggage. Not a problem because no one has more baggage than Hillary and Bubba.”
That is absolutely correct. The dimoKKKRATS are scared to death this election. They have more baggage than was on the Titanic.
Not at all - I just know it's been a dangerous viewpoint here for awhile.
That's what I meant when I said: "just letting that one hang out there for a while...."
I'm assuming Vaquero said it sarcastically. No?
Not if Trump picks him.
