Newt Gingrich says he’d probably say yes if asked to run as Donald Trump’s veep

With the Democratic and Republican presidential nominees all but decided, attention turned Sunday to the possible contenders for vice president.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said he and his wife, Calista, “could be lured into a new path” if presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump were to ask him to join the ticket.

“If he can convince Calista and me that it’s doable and it’s serious and that we would in fact contribute, I think we’d be very hard pressed not to say yes,” Mr. Gingrich said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Given Newt’s extensive bagage and sack of potatoes demeanor
he would be an incredible asset to Biden, Hillary, or Sanders in the VP position.

“The operative word: baggage.”

Ditto. I like Newt, and I like that he’s been in Trump’s corner - but... no... too much baggage. He does not help the ticket - plus he’s 72 years old. Ideally, it would be someone young enough to carry on after Trump’s done in office.

I like Sarah, too - but, same thing... she’s been made into a joke by the media. I don’t think she can recover from that.

“Trump should ask the Hot congress women from Hawaii. Shes a democrat, but she is also an Army reserve. And she is pretty conservative for a democrat. And did I mention, she is hot. And she surfs.”

All that’s true - but if he’s going to ask a Democrat, why not shoot for the moon and ask Bernie? The sound of the Democrats heads exploding would be heard in the next galaxy.

(now... NO ONE take that “ask Bernie” comment seriously, okay? That was a joke).

I got it. Trump should ask Tulsi Gabbard to be his VP. I would vote for her as President. Their opinions are not that far apart. She is an extremely conservative, military friendly democrat. If Trump could get her, I think that would turn heads.

Jim Noble would say “yes” too, but Trump is just as likely to ask me as he is to ask Newt.

If you invite yourself to the dance, it’s hard to get a date later.

Newt, Trump and Palin are all mutual friends. Trump is very loyal to friends.

“I think he would be an asset as part of the WH team but not as VP.”

Fully agree. He would bring a lot of savvy. VP should be younger, bring in some demographics or region, and be a potential successor.

Newt for VP is possible, but what voters he would bring that Trump doesn’t already have is a mystery to me. I guess six wives between them has some poetic charm.

Newt cannot be Chief of Staff though. The rap against him when he was Speaker was that he was completely unable to organize his time or thoughts. He was an idea guy. He got in trouble with the functioning of a busy office. With Trump not having a clue how to be president, he will need a very organized Chief of Staff who can organize his time. That is surely not Newt Gingrich.

All this talk about ‘baggage’ is hilarious. Trump has twice as much ‘baggage’ but that’s no problem. Newt’s ‘baggage?’ Unacceptable. LOL

Please no more Calista. She is a constant reminder of Newt’s ugly past.
Furter Newt is smart, but worry about corporatism etc. with him

This is why I have never been a fan of Palins. Why did she capitulate to McCain pressure? She had the momentum to break through that, speak the truth and the wait for her turn. But no. Compromised. Lure of power got her. Sort of like little Marco.

Name another candidate who won’t receive the wrath of the #nevertrump crowd, or receive a severe anal exam from the media.

It’s all about getting Trump.

The only problem I have with Gingrich is that wife of his has to be an equal participant in everything he does. If she would butt out, I might like him, again. I don’t want that manakin to be the co-vice president.

Ben Carson approaches 70% favorability in some polls. It is too soon to tell but it appears the people who opposed Trump and lost are the ones who really appear to be sucking in politics.
