Unlike some of the other former candidates, Rick Perry is keeping his word and has pledged his support for the apparent nominee, Donald Trump. Texas longest serving governor is now being attacked for honoring his promise to the voters that he would support the eventual nominee of the party.
In September 2015, Gov. Perry was asked in a post-campaign interview if he would support Donald Trump by the Austin American-Statesmans Jonathan Tilove... Perrys answer, Sure. Whoever comes out of that Republican field Im going to be supporting...
Now, outlets like Red State and National Review are attacking the governor for standing by his word. A May 5 Red State headline read Pathetic: Rick Perry Supports Donald Trump and Open to Being His VP...
But Red State was not alone in their attack on a man who is honoring his promise. National Reviews published an article titled, Perry and Other Republicans Sell Their Souls to Trump.
In that piece, the National Review accused Perry of hypocrisy and selling his political soul for a seat on the Trump Train.
If you want to talk about hypocrisy, just imagine what these writers would be saying about Donald Trump had Ted Cruz secured the nomination at the convention and Trump either refused his support or ran as an independent candidate...

That’s great. But La Raza Rick is still an open borders stooge.
Now, outlets like Red State and National Review are...

...sounding unhinged.
The #NeverTrumpers are exposing themselves, never-ending illegal alien inudation is what they really want.
Propagandists for the Cheap Labor Express.
Whatever it takes to prevent the citizens from electing a President who enforces the laws and borders.
You’re right, but at least he can tell which way the wind is blowing.
The others are trying to elect Hillary.

Said clowns must be sanctioned, censured, boycotted, blacklisted, etc.
Unlike some perry is a man of his word
If Erik and NR are attacking him I like him better now
Perry is a man of honor, unlike some others we have been hearing about.
Sounds to me as if they have a little fear of Perry being named as a running mate to Trump.
Red State and NR have a death wish. Patrician pubs. NR has been worthless since Buckley left us. Fitting for it to die, it’s disgracing its creator.
Why all the hostility to Trump?
I get that he wasn’t there first choice, but why the spittle spewing hatred?
You know...Until this election cycle, I would’ve never thought RedState and national review would do this....
They are showing they have no honor nor do they have integrity....
RedState & National gopeSpew are showing that they are Democrats...
Both are subpar sites.
Perry will be on the right side of history. Red State and National Review will soon become history.
National Review WAS a good site, when it stayed under the ideals of William Buckley...
Since his death...Not so much....
I am so ready to shut that bunch up...I mean really shut them up. I’ve had about all of this I can take.
Come on. No one expected them to keep their pledges. They are politicians for gosh sakes.
The target of the pledge was Trump. He is the only who was expected to keep the pledge and would have been pounded mercilessly if he did not. The others are let off the hook.
This Perry business has nothing to do with honor and integrity but the fact he is looking for a job. He has done nothing in his life but be a politician with no technical degree or training to do anything else. IIRC his degree is either agricultural or animal husbandry from Texas A&M.
There is really no demand for an ex governor that cannot do anything besides being a politician.
Perrry may have his drawbacks, but he was an Air Force Captain and flew C-130’s. Too bad we more candidates lack military experience.
Going to have to change my tagline after that post... but you get the idea.
