Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."
Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.
"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.
"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."
Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.
"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."
Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.
"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.
He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."
Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.
"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.
This guy will run for President in every GOP primary for the next 25-30 years.
Actually, Ted you are greatly responsible for Trump’s rise. Your bend over marriage to the GOPe (your so-called ground game that is), your cowardly defense of the Chicago thugs, your narcissistic, codependent relationship with the lunatic Beck, your megalomaniac use of religion as a means to an end, your convenient gaming of the delegate system (excuse me, Mr Constitutional Conservative, I mean your legitimate use of law), your lack of actual accomplishments that matter in this election, your father’s odd ball comments, your proving over and over of the Lyin’ Ted moniker, your inability to win over 50% of your state, your inability to win... In general, you lost, and now, you are a loser.
The Cubanadian is really starting to irk me.
His political career in Texas is over. Done. Kaput. Finished. In fact, it was evident by the March 1st Texas primary that he's "not quite right;" he couldn't even win 50% in his 'home' state. < Insert obligatory, embarrassing reminder that he's a carpetbagger and not a real Texan. >
I’m embarrassed to have been once upon a time a supporter of Cruz, but through his words and actions the fraud showed his true colors.
Ted Cruz is an epic fail.
Nooooooooooooooooo
Trump will eventually say something in response. It’s going to be something like ‘removing him from the VP pool—like a Tootsie Roll from a swimming pool.’
A Canadian born lawyer.Yeah, I see no problem there one bit.No siree.
The pity is that Cruz seems only interested in himself than in defeating Hillary.
I remind you that Trump didnt win more than 50% anywhere until the bandwagon effect began to take effect. In NY State Trump only got two/thirds as many votes in his primary as Bernie did in his and and Hillary got twice as much.
[Some people believe this guy belongs on the S.C. Im not seeing it.
This guy has some serious issues.]
Early on I bought and read his book...a good read about law and the Constitution. Later when he became a candidate I watched him closely while the camera and microphone were on him. I came to the conclusion that he just wanted to be on the stage where he could be seen and heard...as an actor. Think of Glen Campbell in the Rhinestone Cowboy....”I wanna be where the lights are shining on me”
Cruz gave speeches, Trump just talked to the people.
Trumps only interest I can see is electing Donald Trump. An old mans last chance for glory. A more glamorous version of Bernie. At least Bernie does it to serve his crackpot principles.
It seems to be all about himself. Who does he think he is (supposed to be) working for ?
Trump as a white knight? A demagogue like Demosthanes. He is lucky that Hillry is not as formidable as Phillip of Macedon.
Cruz is preparing to continue his political career. He just announced that he is running for re-election. and he is not expecting Trump to take the right path even if elected.
It's all about himself, a party of one, (well, two if you count the Mormon from Utah).
You Cruz sycophants need to wake up and see who and what he really is!
