Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."
Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.
"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.
"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."
Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.
"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."
Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.
"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.
He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."
Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.
"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.
She may live to 90. As far as being a Barky supporter we all make mistakes. Just look at some of the Cruz supporters on this site.
There was a caucus here at FR conducted daily for MONTHS. Any FR user who wanted to could vote in it.
There was nothing stopping Cruz supporters from making their presence known. They could have organized and made sure they voted. They could have had an FR ‘ground game’.
However, they never did.
Why? Because 87% of FReepers support Trump. Excuses will not be accepted. The fact is that every opportunity was there to show more support and it never happened. What did happen was that it was documented daily, repeatedly FOR MONTHS, that 80%+ of FReepers support Trump. Period.
Trump won. And you and your little band of ignorant, arrogant, idol worshiping, droning malcontents can all choke on it for all I care.
Sissified Canadian.
You wouldn't want TX to turn to Wendy Davis in 2018, would you?
SORE CRUZERMAN!!!
“He is an American icon, even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Like Kirstie Alley, Norman Lear, Edward Asner, Roseanne Barr, Halle Berry...”
Ronald Reagan.
Ted Cruz did a really good job of convincing me that he isn’t who I thought he was at all. His bitterness will destroy him.
No, he’ll still be blubbering the same lines and spreading rumors that Trump is a crypto-Democrat and that the Constitution will be wiped away any day now.
Agree, Ted should be kept away from convention if possible. Hopefully he’ll keep himself away. He reeks of bad juju, shady schemes, and backstabbing.
YOU bear the responsibility Ted. You and your wife. Maybe you thought you'd get to be the president of the North American Union.
“Seems FreeRepublic is more anti-Cruz than anti-Hillary. Pity.”
We got know Cruz.
Cruz can’t win, but he won’t go away.
He may still be so clinically deluded that he thinks he can win in Cleveland.
He has chronic butt-hurt.
He never did congratulate Trump, anywhere.
Ever.
He refuses to support the presumptive nominee.
*** The rest of us would like to concentrate on beating Hillary, but Ted is and always has been all about ... Ted. ***
Pity.
We got to know Cruz.
Cruz can’t win but he won’t go away.
He may still be so clinically deluded that he thinks he can win in Cleveland.
He has chronic butt-hurt.
............
(Since you wallflowers Just. Can’t. Seem. To. Understand.)
ah, Mr. Cruz....when you find yourself in a hole, the first step to a solution is to stop digging.
As a Cruz supporter (who will now vote Trump because Trump won), if you would stop torching the bridge between you and Trump, you might find wisdom and future ability to productively work together towards common goals.
Stop peeing on Trump’s shoes and start strengthening your people skills.
I would like to see you as Trump’s V.P., but you keep working to poison that well.
Has there ever been a more self righteous fraud than Ted Cruz?
No, but let me give it more thought.
If you don’t want to read him, then don’t post him.
His comments read sincere and true.
As a Mark Levin (talk show host) fan, I keep hoping Levin will finally accept that his man Cruz is not the leading candidate, and suck it up and start supporting Trump.
Instead of his seemingly non-stop ankle-biting of Trump.
Mr. Levn, PLEASE start going after the Dems.
That’s queer. He’s wearing the jacket of someone much larger. Look at the baggy shoulder and upper arm areas and especially the sleeve length.
They're called "voters," Mr. Cruz. Of which you had a dearth.
