Video at link.

This is priceless. Too much out of context but neither look like Mensa candidates.

The thing is, when I was in HS and College I worked at a grocery store, initially at checkout. There would always be people paying with food stamps and it would go down like this.

Man comes in wearing about 1 pound of gold chains Whips out Food Stamps to pay for groceries Non-food total displays Man whips out roll of $100s to pay for non-food, cigarettes, liquor, etc...

“Man comes in wearing about 1 pound of gold chains Whips out Food Stamps to pay for groceries Non-food total displays Man whips out roll of $100s to pay for non-food, cigarettes, liquor, etc... “

Once in a small corner store I witnessed a “gentleman” upset that a new clerk wouldn’t accept food-stamps for his cigarettes (”like they used to”).

He argued for a good 15 mins, left in a huff and got into a brand new BMW...

Pretty much true nowadays I’d say. If I was to complain about every person paying with their food stamp (card), I’d never get out of the store...

“Deal with it bitch!”
For some women, saying that is like ringing the bell at a boxing match.
Oh,and saying that to my wife if I’m there would be very bad.

This man who works long hours for little pay was probably a Walmart employee!

I remember the Merle Haggard song "Workin' Man Bkues". It had the lyric "I ain't never been on welfare, 'cis that's one place I won't be 'cos I'll be workin'...."

I come from a fairly poor background myself. When I was a kid, my parents, grandparents and uncles and aunts thought of government assistance (be it food stamps or welfare) as a badge of failure. Now I have a sister who gets a "crazy check" from the government and uses an Obama phone. Some people just like to work the system.

As a triage interviewer at a local food/clothing/etc. agency, I can testify that food stamp/disability/obamaphone/etc fraud is rampant.

Trump for President. Fraud costs taxpayers like us millions, perhaps billions per year.

I don’t know what led to the dispute but the woman should mind her own business — especially in front of children.

That said, I would be okay with just one separate line for food stamps. Let the ones paying for all their stuff get on with their busy lives so they can pay for the sponges.

If someone is handicapped or truly needy, I wouldn’t be as harsh. If they’re of working age and healthy, I wouldn’t care if they waited hours in line.

I’ve always wanted to know what percent of Walmart and Target’s gross revenue and profit is from “food stamp” purchases. My guess is around 15% of big-government crony capitalism.

Times change.

I've watched people count out change to pay for the cleaning products Foodstamps doesn't cover and who had nothing even bordering on fast food in their groceries. I also see people who buy large bags of rice and dried beans then count out small change to buy needles, thread, and fabric.

I'm sure there are far too many folks like the one you describe and I know for a fact you can buy dope with Foodstamps, but that doesn't mean everyone who is forced into using that alternative deserves to be put in the same category as the scum who shouldn't be helped and should probably be arrested for fraud to boot.

Things are worse in this country than a lot of people realize or want to admit and the scum abusing the system make it that much harder to fix the systems that help people because it's easy to dismiss people with no alternative as being just like the cheats and frauds who would be scamming the system even if the economy was booming.

This woman is way out of line. I don’t know what this man’s story is, and neither does she. She should mind her own business.

I don't either and you're absolutely right.

His idea of working 50-60 hours a day is playing his guitar that he probably bought with his Earned Income Tax Credit refund check. Thinking he may get a paying gig some day. sorry but this kid doesn’t look like he has worked a day in his life. Go ahead call me jaded.

Just something my Late Mother always said.

“You help People who CAN’T help themselves, not People who WON’T help themselves”.

BTW - She wasn’t talking about the Government.

Complaining to people in the checkout line is silly. If you have a complaint, make it to your Congresscritter.

Can’t say I agree with this woman’s tactics but people are getting really tired of how totally f-ed up our society has become. Their patience is starting to run on fumes.

hard to tell a person's circumstances in a checkout line.

minimum wage is at least $7.25 per hour and as much as $10.50 and going up

It is one thing to give people food stamps, its another to give them an Obama phone. People lived without phones for thousands of years, so its a little inconvenient for them, it should be if they can't pay for it.

people no longer feel embarrassed or shamed for taking money without earning it. he is right the government is at fault here, he is just taking advantage of it. Politicians are buying votes with our tax dollar and we are reaching the 50/50 tipping point of no return where there will be more people getting govt money than earning it.

I was in a Walmart the other day when a young couple (not Amish) with a healthy male and 4 kids had two shopping carts full of groceries including rib-eye steaks. the bill $616 paid with EBT..how many times a month do they get that? I was taught if you can't feed them don't breed them. Our welfare systems is upside down rewarding more money with more offspring.

I have also followed people out to the parking lot who used a large amount of EBT to see what they were driving..amazing!

now we are drowning in uneducated, unvetted, dangerous refugees who will not assimilate and we are paying their way. Every dollar going to refugees and illegals is a dollar not going to citizens or legal residents, it is theft by government.P> if we don't change things soon where can we move to?

our public schools are total failures not teaching home economics, budgeting, how to run a household, save money, be self sufficient, costs of offspring, etc. on top of that kids these days are ignorant of history, basic English etc but they still pass them for participation. these students are destined to being failures at life and wards of the state. It is not compassionate to not educate these people properly and give them a chance. Unintended (or intended?) consequences of liberalism.

sanity and common sense has left our politicians for greed and power. there is something in the water in DC and its called Greed.

this sad state of affairs is now reaching the boiling point.

From his looks, that has never worked 50 or sixty hours total in his life. Let alone 50 or 60 hours a week.
