The coalition of Republicans opposed to Donald J. Trumps candidacy braced Monday for a debilitating setback as he appeared poised for a victory in Indiana that would put him on track to seal the Republican nomination by the time primary voting ends next month.
The Indiana vote has emerged as a decisive and perhaps final test for Senator Ted Cruz, who has abandoned hope of overtaking Mr. Trump in the race but still aims to throw the Republican nominating fight to a contested convention in July. Mr. Cruz, of Texas, has pleaded with Indiana voters in recent days not to anoint Mr. Trump as the partys standard-bearer, and has devised a series of long-shot tactics to derail him in the state.

Ironic that the only county Trump did not win was Manhattan in the last 6 states
Thanks! But I’m unworthy because I didn’t cry when I wrote that song.
Agree, Mr Cat. Cruz’s curious reaction to the Chicago nonsense exposed a lot. I was polled by a Cruz superpac. Those folks got an earful from me. I said I would vote for Cruz over Hillary, but that I didn’t like him. Said I was neutral on Kasich, and very favorable on Trump who I would be voting for on June 7.
I believe Arizona was the decisive blow.
Nope. It was Florida.
ROFLMBO...
yeah that’s a good place to start the list... but Teddy has pretty well offed himself. He needs to take the wife, kids and perhaps Carly on a six week “apocalypse” tour...
They don’t get paid to be wrong. They do get paid to lie.
If this doesn't give him nightmares, nothing will.
Now we are gonna see just how many Cruz supporters get behind Trump. We will see if they put party unity above self interest.
With the except of the GOPe crowd, most of Cruz's supporters were honorable conservatives who wanted to see the most ideologically compatible candidate. However, most of the Republican electorate, including many conservatives as well, have placed a higher priority on 'economic' and 'national security' issues (jobs, China, Mexico, and illegal immigration) than over social issues and calls for more "conservatism". The WALL and JOBS are the most important things many of us want.
Abandoned hope? It is mathematically impossible for Cruz to get to 1,237 thru the primaries. And he is so far behind in delegates won, he can't get within 400 delegates of Trump.
Lots of blunders by Cruz.
FL was the decisive blow from which Cruz never recovered.
Re: All hands working together to make that happen.
Totally agree, but how do we make sure the Hitler Youth wing of the party doesn’t decide to sit home again on Election Day?
She sang New York night, then caught the ACEKA train home a week ago.
I don’t think GOP voters will pick Hillary over Trump, far from it.
I think some GOPe movers and shakers will do what they can to get Hillary elected, and it may be as overt as a 3rd party run by a couple of GOPe stalwarts. It might involve behind the scenes maneuvering to help Hillary with Benghazi or server problems. In the case of Benghazi, the GOP has some dirty laundry there, so it’s good for everyone except the voters if the lid stays on.
I have major problems with Cruz and his refusal to get out of the race. His joining the stop Trump movement with the GOPe belies his stated status as an outsider. What does he hope to achieve at a contested convention?
Does he really think that getting the nomination at the expense of the guy who has been the front-runner since July; who received millions of votes more than anyone else setting a GOP record for the primaries; won around 30 states; and have more delegates than Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich combined will propel him [Cruz] to victory in November? It will totally divide the GOP alienating the Trump supporters and guaranteeing Hillary a victory. The sooner Cruz gets out the better. I don't think Cruz is ticking right. He is acting like a petulant child.
You don’t have to be a supporter to recognize, this thing was over a long time ago.
Cruz has been swimming against a rip tide since Super Tuesday.
Ted Cruz is El Cheato..lyin politician by day, lyin presidential candidate by night.
