Donald Trumps damage to the Republican Party, although already extensive, has barely begun. Republican quislings will multiply, slinking into support of the most anti-conservative presidential aspirant in their partys history. These collaborationists will render themselves ineligible to participate in the partys reconstruction.
Ted Cruzs announcement of his preferred running mate has enhanced the nomination process by giving voters pertinent information. They already know the only important thing about Trumps choice: His running mate will be unqualified for high office because he or she will think Trump is qualified.
Hillary Clintons optimal running mate might be Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio, a pro-labor populist whose selection would be balm for the bruised feelings of Bernie Sanderss legions. Running mates rarely matter as electoral factors: In 2000, Al Gore got 43.2 percent of the North Carolina vote. In 2004, John Kerry, trying to improve upon Gores total there, ran with North Carolina Sen. John Edwards but received 43.6 percent. If, however, Brown were to help deliver Ohio for Clinton, the Republican path to 270 electoral votes would be narrower than a needles eye. [SNIP]
Trump would be the most unpopular nominee ever, unable to even come close to Mitt Romneys insufficient support among women, minorities and young people. In losing disastrously, Trump probably would create down-ballot carnage sufficient to end even Republican control of the House. Ticket splitting is becoming rare in polarized America: In 2012, only 5.7 percent of voters supported a presidential candidate and a congressional candidate of opposite parties.

George Will cannot seem to get it through his head that Trump has now won 26 states and is on course to win more.
Of course, he never says who he thinks could beat Hillary Clinton.
If the #NeverTrumpers had a plausible candidate, they wouldn’t be in a panic over Trump.
Whether Will understands why GOP voters have settled upon Trump is now irrelevant.
LOL!
George writes: “Trump would be the most unpopular nominee ever, unable to even come close to Mitt Romneys insufficient support among women, minorities and young people.”
Hmmmm. I guess George didn’t see this today:
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds Trump and Clinton each earning 38% support.
George, National Review, and other pundits are really looking ridiculous these days.
Accurate title:
George Will: Vote for Hillary
I love the way the GOP is going to try to blame Trump for their losses. They haven’t heard a thing about how disappointed we are with their sorry butts. They actually think this is just another election with them popping placeholders in the Senate and House.
Shut the F’ up George. Go back to liberal ABC where you belong.
If George Will hates Trump that is the best endorsement Trump can get..I think after watching those cockroaches with Mexican flags set police cars on fire and scream how they want to “Make America Mexico Again” it will help Trump get a landslide victory, at least I hope so..because that sign right there, that is what the Commies want to do to America, so people will have a choice, is that what they want, for America to be Mexico
Atheist George Will is proposing Hitlery become the occupant of the Oval Office.
I've lost my mind and don't know where to find it.
Sherrod Brown & Trump have alpha masculine voices, George Will looks like an actor from Law & Order SVU
What a friggin a whole
All Will actually tells us is that Donald Trump is just not good enough for an atheist adulterer to vote for.
The GOP destroyed the party by caving to liberals instead of listening to their supporters.
The Republican elite and Democrat elite have more in common with each other than they do with the people that elect them.
Their philosophy is to hell with the country and what is right and wrong. Their motive is maintain their elite positions 4 more years at a time. Trump and Cruz threaten this, thus the vitriol directed at them.
Still a little bitter his wife isn’t milking some campaign. Probably cozy a couple million.
Pray America wakes
He needs Miralax.
So much for the Washington cognoscenti received wisdom Trump is unelectable.
If only Will and other conservative impostors fought Hillary with as much fervor and dedication as they’ve put into fighting Trump, we’d be getting somewhere.
And if Trump is going to lose, he can hardly do worse than McCain and Mittens. Why the panic?
Let Hillary take Sharrod Brown. He is a disheveled bum.
They should fear the people, not Trump.
At the very least, it would have made Pennsylvania a competitive battleground state. It is hard to tell if George Will is a GOP Quisling or just plain stupid at times.
