Donald J. Trump Foreign Policy Speech
Thank you for the opportunity to speak to you, and thank you to the Center for the National Interest for honoring me with this invitation.
I would like to talk today about how to develop a new foreign policy direction for our country one that replaces randomness with purpose, ideology with strategy, and chaos with peace.
It is time to shake the rust off of Americas foreign policy. It's time to invite new voices and new visions into the fold.
The direction I will outline today will also return us to a timeless principle. My foreign policy will always put the interests of the American people, and American security, above all else. That will be the foundation of every decision that I will make.
America First will be the major and overriding theme of my administration.
But to chart our path forward, we must first briefly look back.

I have listened to Trump at his rallies and debates and interviews and that's why I don't think Trump wrote it.

There you go DD. Guess someone more in the know than you has a handle on it.
I'd give it a try saying it fast but not before I had partaken of a pint of Pabst Pale Premium prior to parsing.

We need a new, rational American foreign policy, informed by the best minds and supported by both parties, as well as by our close allies.
Great points: though I wonder how Trump will get the democrats to not politicize foreign involvement...
That "waters edge" certainly didn't apply to Bush...
As far as I can tell the democrats are willing to put our military, soldiers, our sovereignty in harm' way to retain to try and get power...
I don't see them changing anytime soon...
Remember that POS Murtha ?
He said our Mariners were war criminals in Hadithan
Early on I found a description of how extremely brilliant people often ramble His speach patterns fit the pattern
“....pecksniff pundits with pursed puckerlips.....”
I don’t know if it’s the part about pundits or the pursed puckerlips, but that line makes me picture a tightly clenched anus in my mind’s eye.
“this is a remarkable speech. .. this is compelling material. If he can show a similar command of other issues such as the economy, our educational system, and the criminal justice system, he could a very formidable candidate in the general election.”
i watched it and it was indeed compelling, both the content and the delivery.
And I’m not at all surprised that Trump has shifted from wild-eyed stump speaker to serious policy speaker. He’s pretty much said more than once that was exactly what he was going to do.
And equally notable is that the foreign policy content is exactly what he’s been saying on the stump, though more coherent and more polished. What this means is that pretty much everything Trump has been saying on the stump is EXACTLY what he intends to do, despite many (mostly bnow zotted) naysayers here claiming he was lying and would shift to the hard left (which I never believed for even a nanosecond).
Same here. Can't wait to wallow in their tears.
NC he used a TelePrompTer. But he did an excellent job It sure looked natural
BOOM!!!
Well I should expect delusion from someome tied to Cruz. Speech was pure Trump sorry Cruz can’t connect but it is what it is.
Even if you can't see them in the video, you can tell because he didn't go off on a tangent and his syntax...

The difference is Trump is directly connected to the people in a way no other “politician” has ever been. He uses the words “we” and “us”. Anyone thinking they can do dirty deeds in the corner or defy the will of the people better take notice. Those days are over.
Too bad the talking heads are talking about sCruz and Carli. What a waste of time.
Vote Trump!
His speech was very good.
I was surprised as I saw the “stiffness” melt away and he became more comfortable. I am sure he added some of his own emphasis at times. NOT BAD AT ALL...
The one I like was this; If president Obamas goal was to weaken America he could not have done a better job.
I’ve been saying that for over a year!
If you say so.
As usual, Trump makes another brilliant more. By formulating and articulating his foreign policy in this much detail at this stage of the election, he’s actually defined the foreign policy issues that will be debated from this point forward in the election. Hillary must now speak to TRUMP’S foreign policy! Hillary must either agree or disagree with the elements of Trump’s policies, which pretty much way she will be the loser.
So, ONCE AGAIN, Donald J. Trump has defined the election issues and has defined them in such a way that it is win-win for him and lose-lose for his opponent. This is something I don’t ever recall seeing in the last 25 years, namely a GOP candidate defining the issues and putting the Democrat on the defensive, rather than the Democrat defining the issues and putting the GOP on the defensive.
