76% of GOP Voters Rate Their Own Congress as Out of Touch
Rasmussen ^ | March 22, 2016

Posted on 04/27/2016 8:21:05 AM PDT by detective

No wonder Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are winning the Republican primaries: GOP voters are more fed up than ever with their elected representatives in Washington, D.C.

Seventy-six percent (76%) of Likely Republican Voters say Republicans in Congress have lost touch with GOP voters from throughout the nation over the past several years, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. That’s up from 65% in January of last year and the highest finding since we first asked this question just after Election Day in November 2008.

“Republican establishment has lost touch. “.......

Every politician in Washington has lost touch, the republicans have no monopoly on that.

I know I am going to vote against my own 2nd term Congressman. It didn’t even take him two years to become a fricking Republican Establishment liar.

Is it something in the water up there in DC?

They quit answering the phones, reading their mail or email years ago. They did not want our opinion, they wanted us to sit down, shut up, and vote for them.

Conservatives were not even welcome at the Romney Convention.

The GOPe still thinks that winning congress was authorization to compromise if not outright cave on the issues that got them the majority to begin with.

I now view anyone claiming to be a "true conservative" with great skepticism, because yes, the phrase has been cooped by establishment weenies.

I don't expect Trump to "reverse gay marriage" and things like that... those aren't his place to do... that's states and courts. Same with many "social issues".

What I expect out of him is a reversal of the suicidal march toward "political correctness", and most importantly, making the Federal government once again responsive to the needs of the people instead of the needs of government insiders. I expect him to weed out the massive inefficiencies that have crept into government over the decades. These actions will position the country to work properly and respond to real issues in the future.

Losing touch, though maddening, is not nearly as contemptible as our elected officials calling their constituents ignorant, uninformed and bigots. Lindsey Graham, John Boehner and Paul Ryan are prime examples of politicians who ridicule the voters who put them in office.

When the dust settles, I want to see McConnell and Boehner forced to explain their actions over the past few years, but I will settle for having them both gone.

We just need to make sure this doesn't bleed over to the conservative reps. so many have worked so hard to get to D.C.

We don't want to throw out the baby with the dirty, stinking, thieving bathwater.

Just saying.

Tread carefully so as not to lose that which we HAVE gained.

Jedi.

Get them out of Washington. Let them legislate by internet. It works for Amazon and a plethora of other businesses. Get them away from the DC party circuit. Lose the influence of lobbyists and other leeches.

Put them in glass offices facing the main street in their home district. Maybe then they will listen to their EMPLOYERS, you and I.

Today's communications make it possible.
