For 65 years, Denver Christian Schools used the mascot “Crusaders,” but that’s all about to change. Although CEO Todd Lanting says it’s not about political correctness, the change is being made because some might find it offensive to Muslims, EAG News reported Tuesday.
“In our mission, in light of the command to love our neighbors as ourselves, the crusader was an inconsistent, inappropriate symbol for that mission,” Lanting told KUSA.
EAG added:
After using the Crusaders mascot for 65 of the school’s 100 year history, officials in November began to solicit ideas for a new symbol, and have since narrowed it down to two possibilities: Thunder and Trailblazers.
The problem with the old name is that “a lot of people were concerned about the association with the crusades, a series of wars between Christians and Muslims,” according to the news site.
Lanting insists the change is not an effort to align with political correctness.

Why would any Christian school want a mascot of someone who fought to spread Christianity? The cultural suicide of the west continues.

If you want to avoid offense, you might as well get rid of the gospel message of the cross. That’s the real “offense:”- a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles. But the wisdom of God.
Beside the assertion this report doesn’t make any sence. Team names are usually assigned to a specific school or is this goof ball suggesting banning the use of the word crusaders ? What’s next ?
It's a Christian school in Denver, Colorado -- so their next move will be to adopt a new motto, "Christians Against Christ".
Condemning crusaders completely misconstrues history. It would be as if, in World War II, the Allies’ D-Day invasion failed and Nazi Germany continued to dominate Europe in the 1940s and 1950s. And, in order to avoid offending the Nazis, the Allies started condemning the D-Day invasion as a wrongful attempt to take Nazi territory.
