Transgender people should be able to use whatever bathroom they want, Donald Trump said Thursday.
"Oh, I had a feeling that question was going to come up, I will tell you. North Carolina did something that was very strong. And they're paying a big price. There's a lot of problems," the Republican presidential candidate said during a town hall event on NBC's "Today."
Referring to comments from an unnamed commentator who on Wednesday said North Carolina should "leave it the way it is right now," Trump said he agreed.
"Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all the business that's leaving, all of the strife -- and this is on both sides. Leave it the way it is," he said, referring to companies that have canceled plans to move or expand businesses in the state as a result of the law, which bans transgender individuals from using a bathroom that does not match their gender at birth.
"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go. They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate," Trump said. "There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic -- I mean, the economic punishment that they're taking."
Matt Lauer then asked whether Trump has any transgender people working for his company.
"I really don't know. I probably do. I really don't know," Trump said, answering that he would allow, say, transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner to use whatever bathroom she wanted at Trump Tower.

Oh so trump said “leave it the way it is right now,”, so he is not against the bill banning them. Big deal
You really cannot see how his inability to have ANY sensible discernment on an issue like this has an impact on his decisions?
Its a minor issue to me, the issue of Islam and illegal immigration matters far more to me.
I was afraid this was one of Trump's key values.
...that doesn't matter. His minions are here to save him.
“Lauer tries to spring a trap on Trump, a trap which will not be used on a democrat.”
It wasnt a trap, it was a policy question on a topic RAT candidates have addressed. I understand why you might think it was a trap since it exposed Trump as a politically correct perv rights guy.
I don’t like his answer. Having said that, just like banning guns, you can make whatever laws you like and perverts are still going to try and be around children, whether it’s a bathroom, a playground, a ball park, a mall, etc. You get the point. No amount of laws are going to stop deviants. As a parent, I never let my young ones go in the bathroom by themselves in public. I took my young boys with me. Never saw a mother who minded because they were doing the same thing. My daughter always with me. My 15 year old daughter still doesn’t go to a public restroom, either I’m with her or she’s armed and I’m still watching the door.
Common sense. I kept an even closer eye and distance with my kids at these places because I new that this is where the perves hang out.
Trump is a pragmatist who is at about 99.9% chance of being the nominee and is heading into a series of NE states with a YUGE lead.
Cruz is hysterical and deperate and will squawk himself into dead last place in IN on this issue.
That is what I think.
Like your profile page.
Well.. nice to see you’re so.. “focused.”
Most of his supporters are either democrats or recently converted Republicans.
Oh, absolutely. Keeping one eye on the ball and the other on the goal line.
Calling a timeout to wrestle with the Cruz pigs probably not game winning strateegery.
And no matter what your beloved Orange Glorious says or does.. it’s all about “pragmatism,” right? A fine (albeit failed) attempt at spin.
It’s actually going to be quite interesting watching you clowns twist yourselves inside out trying to explain Orange’s latest gaffe.
“its all about pragmatism, right?”
Unless you’re one of the increasingly endangered Cruzenoids. Then it’s all about hysterics, desperation, deception and decreasing relevance.
You can only insult, not defend. Trump supporter claim the are against P.C., but when the candidate admits he is P.C., they praise political correctness. Typical liberal pathology.
How’s this for pragmatism?

Or have you completely tossed aside all semblance of conservative stances?
The principle here is private ownership, which is the right that underpins all others. Business owners should decide, not gov’t. That is in keeping with the Constitution.
I get that part but as you said that’s preaching. It’s not economics. He is promising them a better life because he will save them from evil. Problem is the evil is US government policies not Chinese. But its hard to get Democrats to vote for you on an anti-government platform so he rails against the Chinese.
