Trump: Transgenders Should 'Use the Bathroom That They Feel Is Appropriate'

Republican Donald Trump says he'd be fine with Caitlyn Jenner using the bathroom of her choice at Trump Tower. (AP File Photo)

(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."

"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.

"That is correct," Trump said.

Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.

"Leave it the way it is," he said.

"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.

"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."

AD FEEDBACK

Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."

Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.

"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."

Yes, I saw the huge wins in Utah, Wisconsin, and Texas... And countless others...

Individual, private, lockable, single occupant bathrooms are the way to go. In the space they have for huge facilities for both males and females, they could have 8 or 9 private restrooms at very little extra cost. The security would be better, the privacy better, and the lawsuits non-existent.

Exactly. In fact, it would be a pittance to increase the size of each stall/room to be just big enough to add individual wash-basins. The handicapped restrooms at the state beach park have this set-up; it's really the best way to go.

Problem solved. Next?

Let us all remember that Trump on day #1 will: (a) rescind every Obama executive order; (b) announce he will not enforce any provision of Obamacare, rendering it a dead letter statute until repealed within the month; (c) use existing budgetary allocations (perhaps from dept of edu - ha ha, you know, a "teachable moment" on the rule of law) to fund the initial stage of the wall; and (d) begin deportation procedures.

These artificial & contrived social gotchas are just another clever technique to keep the people divided. People are going to have to deal with Trump running left to attract the disenfranchised Bernie voters who will really be feeling the "burn" after they get screwed at the DNC convention.

As long as Trump holds true to the top 4 issues above, he is the right answer for at least 60% of the US population.

Youtube likes to cut out on me a lot too. I move the slider up slightly or back to get it going again, or reload the page and then move the slider up to the point I want to listen.

I’m reading you post and seeing your tagline and failing to correlate the two. Anyway, you mentioned what hill you will “die” on; and my assertion is that when choosing foundation principles, you don’t die. That’s the whole point. I do not accept that wanting a nominee who can properly delineate public restrooms (as well as control his mouth and emotions) is asking for perfection.

“He cares of course, the issue is the law as it exists today. There are already crimes for voyeurism assault rape etc, but none to protect you as a business owner from the GayStapo.”

Then why not say this:

“I understand how the women who are uncomfortable feel about using the facilities with men that are attracted to them. But the law is what it is. I will work to change the law as president, so that these women will not have to feel uncomfortable.”

Instead, he said this:

“Leave it the way it is,” he said.

“One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying ‘Leave it the way it is right now.’ There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they’re going through with all of the business that’s leaving and all of the strife, and that’s on both sides — you leave it the way it is.

“There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the — the economic punishment that they’re taking.”

Men are different from women as far as sexual attraction. Rational people can look around and know this is true. It isn’t this hard. If he can say something rational about Muslim immigration despite the uproar, he can certainly something about men who are attracted to women allowed to use the women’s bathroom because they claim to be women who are attracted to women.

Why do I have a feeling the GOP establishment is using this as a shiny metal object to get the base worked up over an almost non-existent problem (is there a tranny bathroom crime wave I don't know about?) so they can be distracted and not think of border security and the trade deals?

You have a greater chance of being killed by an illegal alien than seeing a trans person in a public restroom. You have a greater chance your job is outsourced than seeing a trans person in a bathroom. I live in NYC - in Manhattan no less - and I have never seen one in a public bathroom.

Utah was Romney NeverTrump not Cruz, They are not loyal to him, So was Wisconsin. And he did very badly in his hone state. So no he has zero chance of winning, Only the presumptive nominee pulls all the demographics needed to win.

neverTrump is not Cruz loyal. Foolish to think so. Look at how few of you there are.

Remember, they did not say “we did it #Cruz.” The said “We did it “neverTrump.”

I’m very interested what you will say when/as Trump continues to kick the conservative “sacred cows” because he will continue to. Do you not see yet that you have been used?

Just listened to the full clip, this is not nearly as bad as I have read.

Not good, but hardly the terrible thing I thought it was.

He said it should remain the same, I think his error was an off the cuff answer about Caitlyn being able to use a bathroom in one of his towers.

Not so bad as I thought.

a bit more mini than I thought. Still, a mini unforced error, just not as bad as reported by the Cruz camp.

Should a business be able to stop a guy in a dress from using it’s women’s bathroom if they want to? Can they care about what their women customers want, or should they not be able to stop it due to a law?

Why? Because he has to win the general to nominate conservative Judges and change over the heads of all the agencies. Saying leave it alone for now is common sense. Not opening himself up to lawsuits over this issue in New York is also common sense.

What lawsuits? Just say he can’t do what he wants to do because the law is as is. He says it should stay that way, it’s no big deal. Or am I missing something here?

Trump may issue a clarifying statement on this. Local nuisance ordinances should be the effort take care of stuff like this. There may be many in NC.

a bit more mini than I thought. Still, a mini unforced error, just not as bad as reported by the Cruz camp.

Yeah it's always like that as I find out.

"Sadly - This war has already been lost. We can’t blame it on Trump."

No we can't. Trump and Hillary-beast and others are just the end result of the 60's self-indulgent hippy generation whose "Greatest Generation" parents failed them in their post-war desires for stuff. I know because I was a juvenile delinquent until I joined the Navy and learned ethics, integrity, honor, morality and other values. Between the hippie's whining and growing up to control the media, higher education, and politics, we've been doomed since.

If you want a to understand more of my take, read Robert H. Bork's old book called, "Slouching Towards Gomorrah: Modern Liberalism and American Decline". There's been other books since about our Republic's decline, but he was one of the first to pin point exactly why. It was due to the 60's generation and their parents lack of discipline.

And so here we are. We either vote for a meglo-maniac who has a history of being liberal who can't keep his numerous feet out of his mouth, or a manipulative lying law-breaking b*tch who has spent her life for this moment.

It was lost way back in 1977, when we allowed the gays to destroy Anita Bryant’s career. That was their blueprint, and it was only a matter of time.

Nice, but courts screwed that all up so we have fond memories of what we want, what should be and the REALITY of what is.

Lots messed up by calling every stupid thing equal when they are not. The went to courts and called even the bizarre equal and opposition illegal bias.

Yuck!
