Trump: Transgenders Should 'Use the Bathroom That They Feel Is Appropriate'

Republican Donald Trump says he'd be fine with Caitlyn Jenner using the bathroom of her choice at Trump Tower. (AP File Photo)

(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."

"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.

"That is correct," Trump said.

Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.

"Leave it the way it is," he said.

"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.

"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."

AD FEEDBACK

Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."

Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.

"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."

As a business man, he doesn’t care about a man attracted to women using the women’s bathroom in his own business? What if one of his women customers cares or sues him because she has to use a bathroom with a man she knows is attracted to women?

The GOP will give Cruz the nomination because they know Cruz will lose to Hillary Clinton, and they would rather have Clinton than Trump. Anyone that thinks the fake and fraud dominionist Cruz can win a general election is sadly mistaken. He has managed to “win” nothing in the world but 8 small caucus states where the vote was manipulated for him, Texas, where more people voted against him than for him, Ok, where he basically tied Trump in delegates, and Wisconsin where his pals the entire GOP apparatus of the state got behind him. Cruz will never see the inside of the White House as president. But what this power-mad little man will do is destroy the Republican Party if he can’t be elected, which he can’t.

Now I see Cruz has already trying to score points on Trump’s answer to a hypothetical question. The man finds a microphone faster than Al Sharpton. What a charlatan Ted Cruz is.

Hilarious. Trump says something (yet again) that shows his true nature, that of being a liberal, and per usual, it's turned into an excuse and chance to attack Ted Cruz. You can't make this chit up.

This is just one 'more' example of how Trump will let his supporters down if or when they believe what he says when it sounds like a "not a liberal" stance. His real self will always be revealed eventually. His liberal real self, that is. Buyers remorse yet? Better get used to it.

I guess that’s why Cruz beats Clinton in the national polls which are conducted TODAY...

Even in swing state polls...

Trump the transgender supporter? He loses to Clinton by double digits.

Facts are facts. Trump nominated, RATs win the election.

“Bigger issues????
This is PURE corruption at the very least!!!”

I Have ISIS, the economy, and illegal immigration at the top of my list.

You have a law in North Carolina that they couldn’t even be bother with standing by.

So no, sorry, NC’s screw-up isnt my BIGGEST ISSUE right now.

And like NC capitulating on it wasn’t even talked about the past few days on FR, in a few days this wont either, but the 3 that are important to me will.

I’d rather he said, “I believe in having private facilities for all.”

What’s wrong with that?

But doesn’t it seem a bit much for 0.02% of the population? Why should small businesses be burdened with this cost by government fiat, even if it’s local government?

A small business generally already has private, individual facilities. And it’ll be a whole lot cheaper than the lawsuits coming down the pike because spineless politicians don’t want to stand up for common sense.

Depends. I’m just thinking of the local pizza place, which already has its facilities built.

I dunno...I guess I’d just like to see our “leaders” say “ENOUGH!”

Many rather large businesses in the food industry and fuel industry already do. Wendys and Shell come to mind.

Part of a broader agenda, perhaps, to ultimately erase gender “distinctions” throughout our society, IMHO.

Katieanna, I understand your thoughtful intention and appreciate your comments. However, we must always choose what “hill” we are willing to die on....

I have absolutely no doubt that you understand the grievous state our country finds itself in. Because of the critical nature of this election we must look past The nuances of disagreement that we may have with a certain candidate and focus on the bigger issues. Yes, family is a huge issue… But if you cut off your hand because the glove is too tight… What if you gained?

Sometimes it helps if you keep your focus on the finish line… There is going to be an election in November… Someone is going to get elected… Trump is the best we have… Make our peace with it and “begin” to steer our great country back to where we know it should be.

.... I am married to a wonderful woman… I have eight children… But do you know something, none of them would be “perfect” as president of United States...lol

.... To tell you the truth, I believe I wouldn’t even be happy with “me”… I would probably second-guess some of my decisions too!

.... It’s time to coalesce behind Trump… Is he perfect? No… But he’s the one we’re bringing to the dance… And he is the best hope for the next 4 to 8 years to right this capsized ship...

Screw you, Trump! You're the epitome of the, "cult of personality". What a pandering a-hole. Knowing his liberal background and his stupid comments that occur so often, I may not even vote for the first time in over 3 decades.

You people who think my one vote is giving the Hillary beast the WH can kiss my old rear. I've done more than my part since the 80's. My patriotism and activism bona fides are beyond repute.

BTW, if read my tagline, it doesn't say I have to support or vote for ANY politician. It means I support the original INTENT of the Constitution, which is all but dead.

If you believe any poll that says Cruz or Sanders can win the presidency I’ve got some ocean property in Arizona to sell you. Cruz absolutely has no shot at getting cross over democrats to support him and without cross over democrats no way in the world to be elected. If the GOP steals the election for Cruz, 75% of Trump supporters will not vote for the canadian fraud. Getting the nomination through backroom deals sealed will destroy Cruz’s political future and the GOP. He has not earned the nomination with voters and will not be elected president.

All religions are equal in the eye of the law.

All adoptions by gays Have the same equal rights as others.

We consider he get mental illness by law as natural as being born that way in courts.

Our Presidents can’t torch planned parenthood sites. They can’t suggest bias, nor can the get much done regarding bathroom laws unless their is proved cause.

Is that moral? Not for me or you, but this is not a walk this back issue by Trump because he has to defend everyone as President.

As aatter of fact you could see the bias by Obama regarding attacks on non-minorities and Christians. I haven’t seen Obama walk anything back, so what are you going to do?

IMO you boycott companies for stupidity and tons of people need to be standing in and outside of courts protesting Judicial activism in the bench and use the Judges names who are the problem.

The Judicial system is killing our American way, not Donald Trump. But he can not show a hell of a lot of bias running or being President, that’s not his job beyond fiscal activism for taxpayers. He is not being elected Christ on earth or to Pastor of these United States.

The Declaration of Independence cites Nature’s God, so I will, too. I’ll be in good company.

Trump absolutely can support the safety, security, and privacy of people in this country and do it because of those concerns alone.
