(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."
"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.
"That is correct," Trump said.
Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.
"Leave it the way it is," he said.
"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.
"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."
AD FEEDBACK
Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."
Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.
"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."
I don’t play games with the media’s or the cultures attempt to define things, but I do know that men using girls’ restrooms is stupid and an invitation to disaster for some poor woman/girl.
So, I agree with the thrust of your post.
Only AFTER the nomination.
He should retract, but even so, it leaves the question in my mind of his true position / convictions.
if this is true Nana, then Trump is much more ignorant that I thought and not in any way capable of running The White House... ever!
Xzins, he is not going to retract it. He has climbed off conservatives, zipped up and now is chasing Bernie’s supporters. He actually needs to say MORE stuff like this to get into THEIR pants.
How do you feel about this, xzins (also from today’s Townhall)?
TRUMP: IM ALL FOR RAISING TAXES ON THE RICH

And this?
Trump just said he ABSOLUTELY wants to change Republican platform on ABORTION
A business that sees it's volume drop off do to social policy issues will simply eliminate that avenue. They aren't in the business of advocacy; they're in business to make things as smooth as possible so that people will spend their money.
David, May I just say that whatever anyone’s top 3 issues be; xzins point, as well as mine, is that the family IS uppermost. If the family is broken down, the economy cannot thrive. It simply cannot. If the family craters, everything else does. Have you never correlated the state of the family to the state of every political and societal issue?
but while Trump is doing all that (wall, yada yada YADA) we will ROT from WITHIN and become a MORAL cesspool !!!
The tax thing is a mixed bag. I’ve heard him before on the same subject, and his point is that he could pay more and not be hurt. But, he also wants tax rates that promote economic growth, so his tax plan reflects that.
On the one hand he says that he personally could pay more because he’s very wealthy, but on the other hand he knows what it takes to get an economy moving. Where’s the middle ground on this one?
The abortion issue was brought home to me 2 weeks ago when I realized every single candidate believes in no-consequence abortion. It probably made me want to convert to Catholic more than anything else.
All of them speak out of both sides of their mouths.
Trump’s position does not support PC culture or the firing of Curt. Honestly, just because he does not agree this should be the focus of his campaign does not make Trump the PC king. Sheesh.
Yes its rational. It would cause more trouble with our legal system to do anything as a business owner which is how he was asked the question. So you will risk law suits over a bathroom when there are NO other problems that have occurred?
Yes, I saw that and I agree with it. I have a few comments on this thread, iirc, that support the same thing.
Individual, private, lockable, single occupant bathrooms are the way to go. In the space they have for huge facilities for both males and females, they could have 8 or 9 private restrooms at very little extra cost. The security would be better, the privacy better, and the lawsuits non-existent.
.......and when then next bomb is let out of his bag,
you will be 50% .. then 25% in agreement .. then 25%... and on and on and on...at what point do you say I do NOT side with this agenda???
Some of us woke up before we got on his bandwagon....
More common sense you mean? I hope so. Thanks to the Supreme court which is not yet changed the Gays have the power to destroy businesses. They also are over represented in political power and media. So What he said was rational and the best option for winning in the General. You fix this problem with the Judges, Religious liberty and education. Not hypocrisy.
No one is suggesting that this should be the focus of his campaign. We are saying that he should not have condoned Politically Correct blackmail and backlash.
I don’t want a man in a restroom with either ME OR MY DAUGHTERS or GRANDCHILDREN thank you!!!
Bigger issues????
This is PURE corruption at the very least!!!
