TRUMP TRIES OUT FOR NEW ROLE: PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE

The Republican nominating process has evolved for a moment just such as this: helping a damaged frontrunner stave off a challenge from a conservative insurgent and avoiding the threat of a chaotic convention.

What nobody knew was that the frontrunner this year would be Donald Trump.

And as Trump showed both in his remarks after his resounding victory in his home state and the promise of big money for the Republican consultant class, he is willing to try to play the part that was written for another player: Mr. Inevitability.

The Trump team is now busy with infighting and cannot possibly catch up to the Cruz people.

Trump is afraid to debate Cruz.

He would be left on the floor in a little orange puddle.

The interesting bs about articles like this is that they never call the Trump people for comment. So they have no idea what is happening! Just wishful thinking.

>Nothing has really changed. He won New York as expected.

The issue isn't that he won, the issue is how poorly Ted did. Ted no longer appears to be a legitimate contender because he couldn't even pull the really Conservative areas of the state. He still has lots of very loyal supporters, but not enough to win.

I know how loyal Cruz supporters are to Ted, but at some point that loyalty is going to harm the country. Ask Ted to drop and endorse Trump. As a team we can't be beat, but divided Hillery wins for sure.

Cruz had a good first run at the presidency. Make sure it's not his last by supporting unity instead total war.

I don’t entirely agree with what you said but I don’t entirely disagree with it either .

I don’t doubt that Trump knows very well how to use the media. The issue is how he’s responded to a lot of the attacks . How he responded over the Melina ad is one example

Someone needs to take away his Twitter account, ASAP, for starters. He also needs to start hiring more professional political consultants. Yeah that may hurt his image as an outsider. But if he’s serious about changing this mess he won’t be able to do it by losing to Hillary

It’s always nice to see folks on the forum that can’t tell the difference between FR and Daily Kos.

Beating Hillary is easy. Just sound bite every one of her lies and scandals with her arf arfing in the background. That might be a long ad though, given the number of lies she's told.

In fact, just use this:

The problem is that the current brand of conservatism is a failure. It has failed for over a decade and Cruz is now failing and losing big. You need to retool your conservatism so that is succeeds. Your brand of conservatism is going down with the ship. Something must change.

Yep. We clearly need a brand of conservatism that's into assault weapons bans and praise for Planned Parenthood.

“I see now that this is why you organize the daily caucus votes to try to shame and bully cruz supporters into supporting Trump”

BS. DoughtyOne is merely letting people track the daily changes in support for every candidate. It is a completely agnostic pull poll.

I agree, I believe he admitted that was a mistake.

He’s rebounded well, and is likely at the point where he will begin to focus on Hillary.

His outsider image is intact, mostly because it’s real. He’s now beaten the gope, hopefully enough of them, including Cruz will stop the suicidal campaign against him.

There’s too much at stake for them to continue.

Trump would be 78. If Newt picked up the baton, he’d be in his nineties at th end of his second term.
