Trump, Clinton Sweep New York
howiecarrshow.com ^ | 4/20/16 | Howie Carr

Posted on 04/20/2016 5:36:40 AM PDT by raccoonradio

Rafael Ted Cruz, Jr. had a big problem last night with New York values.

His problem was, New York values a chance to actually vote for the candidates. So the Empire State didn’t cancel its primary, or pick the delegates in smoke-filled back rooms, the way Ted Cruz prefers to have the fights fixed for him by his Republican-in-name-only (RINO) handlers.

Another problem for Cruz: he’s the favorite son… of Calgary, Alberta. Donald Trump is the favorite son of Queens, New York.

They weren’t counting Donald Trump’s votes last night in New York, they were weighing them. And for the record, even before last evening, Trump had 8.2 million votes in all the primaries so far, compared to Ted Cruz’s 6.3 million.

Remember that the next time you hear Cruz bragging about his string of “victories” or dismissing “hard-core Trump supporters.” Yesterday Ted said the Trump campaign was “a Kim Kardashian reality show.” What does that make the Cruz campaign – a Pat Nee reality show? Which lasted, what, four weeks.

Another New York value — New York is in the Eastern time zone. Cruz can’t buy a thrill here in the East. (The only state he’s won here is Maine, which had, what else, caucuses.) Cruz also doesn’t sell in populous areas, except for his home state, Alberta – I mean, Texas, which is Central time. Likewise, Cruz is a killer in the Mountain time zone. Willard M. Romney thinks Cruz is the bee’s knees.

In the Mountain time zone, with their 53 or so electoral votes, Cruz is the toast of the town. In New York, he’s just plain toast.

But New York? His kind of town, New York is not Ted Cruz’s kind of town, or state. Not enough holy rollers or snake handlers. Not everybody in New York speaks English, but very few speak in tongues. Sorry, Rafael.

Poor Cruz has got the same problem these next few weeks. Take the Nutmeg State – don’t see too many al fresco baptisms along the banks of the Connecticut River in Hartford. Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart were never SRO in Bridgeport.

Poor Ted Cruz. He’s got to be thinking this morning… if only the GOP had super delegates, like the Democrats do. Dammit, Hillary doesn’t have to worry about losing all these primaries! All the RINO’s are falling in behind Rafael, even Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate majority leader whom Cruz called a liar on the floor of the Senate last summer.

Now McConnell is telling a Louisville TV station that he’s “cautiously optimistic” that the convention will be “contested.” In other words, he’s cautiously optimistic that he and Paul Ryan-O and Willard and Juan Ellis Bush and all the rest of them can steal the nomination from the guy who got the most votes.

By the way, McConnell also denied that there was a “kabal,” and as he pointed out to his local reporter, if there was a RINO cabal, he’d definitely be part of it.

Yesterday Cruz threw out a few final insults, sneering that Trump’s campaign “does not seem capable of running a lemonade stand.”

Hey Ted, don’t you even think about opening a lemonade stand in Binghamton or Buffalo, in Poughkeepsie or Plattsburgh, in the Bronx or Brooklyn, not unless you’re planning to sell hard lemonade. And it still wouldn’t go over, even if you named your chain New York Values Lemonade.

“cruz only stays in to deny the voters what they want”

Is that what Lincoln did in 1860? Deny the voters what they wanted? Is that what Eisenhower did also? Is that what Reagan tried to do in 1976 as well? I’m just curious.

That’s all america expects is a fair election. Let the people choose a candidate to represent them.

"And I say, Let the American people decide."

Just had to insert that, huh, Howie? Couldn't say what you wanted to without that hyperbolic assault on Christianity?

I am a Trump supporter, and a Cruz admirer; I am also a deeply dedicated Christian. The obligatory secular snark by this writer is but an appetizer for those who just can't wait to unload similarly on Cruz, should he win the nomination. Therein lies the problem, and in large part, the reason I, as a Cruz admirer, opt for Trump.

Be a gracious loser and not pepper every thread with nonsense. Your guy lost and needs to get out of the race, endorse Trump and focus on the real problem, HRC. Stop living vicariously through the wins and loses of your candidate.

“Only in Kruz-Aid drinking Cruztown is a 43% win by a favorite son a “big win”.”

better go reread the primary results.

New York: GOP 518,601 votes 60.5% for Trump
all votes cast(Dem +GOP) 19.6% for Trump

Texas: 1,239,370 votes or 43.8% for Cruz
all votes cast(Dem+GOP) 29.5% for Cruz

in other words, Ted got 150% of the voters that showed up compared to Trump when comparing the two states.

A lot more voters in both numbers and % wished to see Cruz in his home state be President than trump in his own state.

Sure seems like a bigger win that what Trump got.

You may wish to change your koolaid flavor.

If Cruz gets out of the race now and endorses Trump, he will lose my support permanently.

“If Cruz gets out of the race now and endorses Trump, he will lose my support permanently.”

I don’t want Cruz to endorse Trump. I wouldn’t believe it if he did it anyway.

I want Cruz to continue being this smarmy, know-it-all self. I want him front and center on the stage and in the news everyday. Every day. Preaching and lecturing with a megaphone. Every. Single. Day. The more humiliation heaped on this hypocritical liar, the better. Cannot happen fast enough.

Cruz will forever have the stench of sleaze attached to him. He didn’t have it before this campaign. He has earned it now. He gets to lay in the bed of petty condescension that he has made for himself. Thing is, he doesn’t care. He has increased his wealth dramatically since becoming a Senator. Personally, Cruz has nothing on the line. He has bright future ahead in law or lobbying. He has a wife that makes a ton of money. He’s set.

well seeing as you point out Lincoln then you would know there were no primaries and Lincoln stacked the room before the other delegates could get in and that is how he won which led to over half million deaths.

If you knew anything at all. the civil wart was all but certain before Lincoln got into office. But keep blaming him for half a million deaths if it makes you feel better.

It’s more than a Cruz problem, Hillary got double the votes Trump did. Bernie got 200,000 more votes than Trump did. But let’s keep talking about those New York values.

Shush, you're raining on Trump's parade. Trumpeteers are gearing up to welcome the millions of disaffected Democrats, in the same manner they've reached out to us "Cruzers." lol

Still though Cruz had more viable opponents on March 1 than Trump did on April 19.

“... 3 million Independent voters registered in New York ...”

And vast numbers of those WILL vote Trump. New Yorkers in droves are disgusted by the way the democrats have ruined the state by making it inhospitable to business through its high taxes and encouraging the loss of manufacturing. The democrats have ruined the state so badly that they can’t even hide it anymore; at least upstate gets it and the outer boroughs as well.

That is why the “Trump can’t win against Hillary in the general” statement is just not accurate. Those people who will cross over in the general and the Independents are not being accounted for (yet). This is the Reagan democrat crossover for Trump that WILL happen nationwide.

Does this make Trump liberal? (rhetorical - not aimed at you Beautiful ... Gracious) NO!! Rather it causes the people who think they are liberal to channel their inner (and very real) conservative within. In other words, even liberals have (perhaps subconsciously denied) at least a dim understanding that without conservatism there would be no money being produced to create jobs to fund the liberals’ tax and spend policies and the endless “robbing of Peter to pay Paul”.

Eventually the horrible economic conditions in New York and the nation’s debt in the trillions is forcing them to see reality, causing them to at least consider a conservative such as Trump that they are not totally turned off to and can get behind, not a sign that Trump is liberal.
