A Donald Trump-Sen. Ted Cruz unity ticket seems less likely now that Cruz told the Good Morning America audience on Monday that he has zero interest, whatsoever in being Trumps pick for vice-president.
Bonnie Pointer, who was described as an undecided voter from Vacaville, California, asked Cruz via video, Would you accept being Donald Trumps Vice President?
Cruz thanked Bonnie for her question saying, Let me just answer very simply, I have zero interest, whatsoever, in doing it.

I don’t have a link to the Cruz citizenship issue, but I read the theory. Evidently both Cruz’ parents were listed on Canadian voter rolls barely a year after moving there. Only Canadian citizens can vote, and in most cases it takes five years for a foreigner to gain citizenship.
So what happened?
According to one theory, Eleanor Wilson became a British citizen during her protracted stay in England with her first husband. According to the article I read, Canada has a special provision that allows British citizens to naturalize in one year. Rafael Sr, being the husband of a British citizen, would have been allowed the same consideration.
Is it true? I don’t know. All I know for certain is that if Ted’s Consular File were in perfect order, he’d have revealed the contents by now. It doesn’t help him, and indeed, it hurts him, to have people wondering exactly what happened following his Canadian birth. Did his parents even report the birth to the American embassy? We simply have no way of knowing.
The biggest clue is that when the issue first came up, Cruz did not provide simple, straightforward answers. Rather, he linked to an idiotic video. That’s exactly how Obama handled similar questions: by mocking and ridiculing the questioners, rather than by providing respectful, substantive answers.
There would be no reason for Cruz to deflect on this issue if he had nothing to hide.
At least Cruz is coming to The realization that trump will be the nominee. That’s a step in the right direction.
I didn’t consider that. That would be an interesting choice.
Definitely a libertarian lean, which might actually help pull in some of the disgruntled Bernie voters after the Clinton machine chews him up and spits him out.
You might be right. Good prediction.
Trump has probably talked to several folks no one expects to even be in the running.
Cruz is too liberal for VP. His temperament is a 5 year old. Heck even Rubio is more conservative then Cruz even with gang of 8. Rubio does not go into the globalist love Cruz does. And Cruz is weak on foreign policy where Rubio is not. Cruz needs to go back to Texas and hope he can somehow win reelection in 2018 which will be difficult now that voters know him.
For all 3 remaining candidates- The VP question is like asking “Do you want to lose the nomination to ____________ “(fill in the blank).
I like Scott Walker- but I don’t think he fits into the mold of a Donald Trump coalition. He has the perception of being a union buster which may drive off the blue collar democrats he is trying to woo. Moreover, he has somewhat of a reputation for not being the sharpest and could get the Dan Quayle treatment in some respect.
Cruz looks older then 44 to. Kasick probably drinks which leads to premature aging. Cruz just got bad genes.
If Trump is just shy of 1237 can he name his VP pick ahead of the convention. If its Martinez- do you think they will still try to oust him. If he names someone like her, I doubt he will have to sell the VP slot to either Marco or Kasich.
Good points. On the union busting, if Trump/Walker are strong on trade and construction projects like Keystone pipeline, that helps with some unions.
If Trump/Walker stick hard to the anti-Common Core education position, that will definitely antagonize the teachers unions, but I don’t think the GOP is going to get that vote anyway.
Can’t argue with the “Dan Quayle” potential for Walker.
That individual may be sidelined, but a choice along those lines would be good. Christie is too much North East urban on one ticket. Palin has been too vilified and out of the game for too long. I expect a surprise. Someone who has not yet been mentioned, and who will pull some demographics or regions that Trump does not cover as well.
No sireee.
Veep must be NBC, same as POTUS.
Personally I believe those around here who argue, from seemingly very informed points of view, that the Constitution is clear about the NBC requirement for two citizen parents, (Jus Sanguinus, or something like that) and ON AMERICAN SOIL, which I seem to recall as "Jus Soli".
Also statutory law and case law which has never been superceded has been cited by very well-read freepers around here...
So here we are in this position, all admiring the wannabe Emperor's new clothes, and it all started way back when everyone looked the other way with Chester Arthur or whomever, Barry Goldwater... old man Romney too if he counts... and another guy in the early 21st Century. [Sips water and clears throat.]
I can understand ordinary people falling for this deception, but every damn one of these media people know better but don't GAF, and it goes double for the "Conservative" media people and exponential for those who have heretofore portrayed themselves and Constitutional scholars but sell their souls for the price of a few thousand unsold books and maybe something unknown like Mark Levin.
Kudos to Trump for having raised the issue early in the campaign, but other than him, when are people going to face up to the fact?
(Answer, of course, now that I ask, is that G-d forbid, if Ted gets the nomination (and I once supported him!!), Bernie or Princess Fauxwhatsername will smear this all over him with a bucket and a mop.)
And that's when the MSM will swing into action; I can hear the Today Show music cueing up right now with the voice-over: "What DOES the Constitution say about being President...?
And as long as we're on the subject, I've got another question...
Winston Churchill was English, a subject of the crown. His mother was American, is that correct? And isn't it also correct that after the war, because of his leadership, he was granted by Congress the title of "Honorary American Citizen", or something to that effect?
Why was that necessary? Why wasn't Winston Churchill already a Natural Born Citizen? His mom was American, wasn't she?
Why didn't Winston Churchill relocate to America after the Labor party threw him out of office in 1945, and run for President here? He would have been a NBC then, wouldn't he?
His mom was an American, right?
He's spent a huge chunk of the time he was supposed to be working at his current job looking for another job.
Try that at your job and see how that works out for you.
Cruz could lose his seat in Texas. He’s not that popular.
A Smart Politics analysis finds that Ted Cruzs 43.8 percent showing in Texas marks the lowest support ever recorded by a Republican presidential candidate in a home state victory out of more than five-dozen campaigns to win their home state since 1912.
A great post! Thanks for every line.
According to Cruz supporters, yes, Churchill was a NBC of America [providing his mother didn’t adopt British citizenship prior to his birth]. It’s beyond ridiculous.
Here’s something else to think about. Governor LePage of Maine is an American citizen. He has two daughters that were born in Canada. According to LePage, both daughters had to naturalize in order to become American citizens.
Hmm.
Why would NBC status be automatic for Cruz but not for the LePage daughters? More importantly, why can we not simply ask Cruz about this discrepancy and get a straight answer?
I was fed up with Obama’s game-playing/smart-assiness mere mos into his presidency. I can’t imagine having another POTUS that refuses to answer reasonable questions, and who guards his personal records as if his life depended on it. Did you know Cruz won’t release his college records? Obama Part Deux we do not need.
I certainly hope not. Despite his 97% CR rating, he has revealed himself for the worm that he is this spring.
(Note that like Jan, I have withdrawn my support from Cruz because of that and other similar incidents. Unlike what this graphic represents, don't assume that withdrawal of support from Cruz equates to support for Trump. It doesn't)
Thank you. I just posted a vanity thread to the same effect.
Why don’t you try telling the truth instead of half-truths.
Let me just answer very simply, I have zero interest, whatsoever, in doing it.
Good, no one asked.
