'Cruz hates New York!' Donald Trump makes his final pitch on the eve of big primary

Donald Trump attacked Texas Sen. Ted Cruz during a sizeable Monday rally in Buffalo, New York, in what was his last major campaign event before the state votes in a consequential primary Tuesday.

"Lyin' Ted Cruz, one of the great liars of all time," Trump referred to his top rival for the Republican presidential nomination.

With polls showing him maintaining a gigantic lead in his home state, he appeared to be attempting to run up the score, suggesting that Cruz "hates New York."

"...dumb enough brag about stealing votes and winning without voters. ... Guess you can’t fix stupid.”

Do you understand the mechanism behind party primaries? It never was strictly a "most votes wins" proposition.
Do a little (or a lot of) research before you sling the word "dumb" around.

I f you need to take reaction to mass murder as the standard then I could do without it.

Honey, I did not author the words you quoted. I was responding to those words.

In fact, I implied he is NOT “stupid”. He’s a malignant narcissist.

Pay attention.

Yes, sorry dear: " With Cruz’ personality disorder he absolutely sees nothing unethical or wrong with what he’s done."

Same comment applies:
Do you understand the mechanism behind party primaries? It never was strictly a "most votes wins" proposition.

So, you do understand why there is nothing unethical about what Cruz has done - This is how the process works.
You may not like to see how the sausage is made, doesn't mean it's not made the same way it always has been.

“I thought NY’s reaction to 911 showed oodles of courage and determination.”

But today, New Yorkers are more liberal than ever - more than ready to reject traditional American values and to embrace the perverse. And the corrupt.

In a word, they are at their core, Democrats.

But you have no problem with Cruz’ personal attacks on Trump. Interesting.

Actually, I do have a problem with them too, and I have criticized those attacks when Cruz supporters post those attacks. I'd like to see FR as a more positive pro-conservative zone, not just a Trump zone or a Cruz zone.

“Trump’s attacks on Cruz are both unjustified and harmful to conservatives.”

But you have no problem with Cruz’ personal attacks on Trump. Interesting.

How do you explain Neil Bush being on Cruz’s campaign team? Cruz’s resume and that maneuver plant him firmly in the Bushes.

Actually, no. Cruz worked in both Texas and DC, so there is a Bush connection, as with everyone who worked in either location during those time frames, but the Cruz policies have been very different. Bush was a compromiser, giving liberals some of what they wanted in return for a tiny bit of what Bush wanted. Cruz doesn't do that. Neil Bush is establishment, and I'm certain his plan is, as many other Trump supporters have speculated, to use Cruz as a spoiler to stop Trump and then betray Cruz at the convention.

Cruz is planning to use the establishment forces to stop Trump and then surprise them with more loyal delegates at the convention than they have. I don't have much faith in the Cruz plan - the establishment is much more practiced at betrayal than he is. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't believe all the delegates Cruz considers loyal to him actually are.

However, I'm okay with the Cruz plan too. The best thing for Trump is (obviously) a one-man race where everyone else drops out. That's not going to happen, not when Kasich hopes to be the last alternative standing. If Kasich stays (a guarantee), the next best option for Trump is a three-man race (that has been analyzed in a very large number of elections, and it's generally true, plus I've done the analysis on this race in particular, and it's true for the Trump/Cruz/Kasich race). I want Cruz to stay in because that gives Trump the best chance for a first-ballot victory at the Convention among the available options.

That's an interesting and sane analysis. The only thing I wonder about is just how distant Cruz is from the Bush dynasty. Cruz was around before and during GWB's first run, he met his wife on that campaign, and all indications are that he's tied to the Roberts nomination.

One thing, for sure. Ancient Rome and all that intrigue has nothing on election 2016!

Four voters for Cruz this morning in NYC.

One of the poll workers tried to dirty trick me and say that the location was for democrats only! I quickly went back to the poll ( after having visited an alternate polling location) and voted.

You asked for one I gave you one, there plenty more out there you can use google to find some more. Cruzs’ entire campaign strategy is to steal Trumps’ issue and to personally attack Trump 24/7. Cruz is doing the GOPe dirty since Cruz is owned by the GOPe.

Fair questions.

"As an individual, John Roberts is undoubtedly a principled conservative . . . The Senate should confirm him swiftly."
- Ted Cruz

"It is true that after George W. Bush nominated John Roberts I supported his confirmation. That was a mistake and I regret that.”
- Ted Cruz

Cruz was shockingly wrong on Justice Roberts, and I was disgusted at the traitorous actions of Roberts with Obamacare, putting the "reputation" of the Court (not getting criticized by liberals in the media) above his sacred Oath to "faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as Chief Justice under the Constitution and laws of the United States". I read a lot of writings by Roberts before his confirmation, and in defense of Cruz, I also saw no warnings that Roberts would act so lawlessly. It's hard to blame Cruz for something that I missed also, particularly when a nominee with a stronger conservative paper trail would have had trouble getting through confirmation.

As for ties between Bush and Cruz, they appear not to be strong. Jeb Bush appears to prefer Cruz over Trump, but it's not clear whether that is sincere or just a thoroughly ineffective tactic to stop Trump. How many Trump voters will be influenced by a Jeb endorsement?

“I just don't like the guy.”
- Jeb Bush

"Ted is a consistent, principled conservative who has demonstrated the ability to appeal to voters and win primary contests."
- Jeb Bush (pretty weak endorsement!)

“Lyin’ Ted Cruz, one of the great liars of all time,”

It is this kind of crap from Trump that may eventually convince me to skip voting for him if he gets the nomination. So far I am at the “hold my nose” and vote point, but if he keeps this up, I may just not be able to stand it. The idea that Cruz “hates” New York is absurd, but Trump gets away with saying this kind of foolishness. I find his campaign repulsive and many of his supporters here on FR to be equally so with their vile comments.

Sure would be great if Trump could win without insulting everyone. Like a middle school girl though, he cant do it.

I know...And the tone of his voice is disgusting...Who are you supporting, Jeb???

Trump's attacks on Cruz are both unjustified and harmful to conservatives. Cruz is the real deal, a genuine conservative who has voted just as he promised and worked hard to slow the growth of government.

But he lies so much...

What's wrong with identifying someone by what he is famous for??? Honest Abe, Gorgeous George, Blood and Guts (your blood, his guts) Patton...
