Trump campaign manager will not be prosecuted, sources say

A Florida prosecutor has decided not to prosecute Donald Trump’s campaign manager for battery after a March run-in with former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, sources with knowledge of the situation told POLITICO.

The decision not to press charges against Corey Lewandowski is scheduled to be announced on Thursday afternoon by Palm Beach County State Attorney David Aronberg.

Fields may still pursue a defamation case against Lewandowski, a source said.

Fields filed a police report last month after Lewandowski grabbed her by the arm and moved her out of Trump’s way following a press conference at Trump National Gold Club in Jupiter. She said he left bruises on her arm. Police later charged Lewandowski with simple battery, releasing video from surveillance cameras that shows Lewandowski reaching for and grabbing Fields.

Aronberg would not comment, but in a POLITICO interview last week, he pointed out that Jupiter police had a low “probable cause” standard to cite Lewandowski for battery. But the responsibility for moving forward with a full-blown prosecution rested with Aronberg’s office, which had to consider whether a crime occurred and whether they believed a jury of Floridians would prosecute.

“We have a higher standard to go forward with a prosecution,” he said.

Hope someone made a list of the total azzholes here who spent days condescendingly telling everyone it was “obvious” that he should be charged.

He pushed this so hard that it caused me to cease listening to him. It was frickin’ outrageous!

Someone said he made a short mention of this today, seemed incoherent or something like that on it, then went to break and didn’t discuss it further.

I can’t really say, I have walked away from him. He’s turned into something that I don’t like.

Exactly, and it served it’s purpose, stop Trump from winning WI

I called it, I could not see any prosecutor wasting their precious time on a trial over nothing, not even a felony.

He has shown his true colors ...I still listen to him daily , but only to be able to refute his disgusting propaganda .. Levin, Limbaugh, and Beck are the point men for Cruz ...once the primary is over , I will never listen to any of them again ...they are all phony CONservatives who are only in it for self enrichment ...

His new weird little obsession is Roger Stone ...he was incoherently mumbling about him today , just like everyday ...Levin makes Beck look sane, if that’s even possible

Something has definitely changed in him, and it has not been for the better.

I listened to Levin for years and years, and he’s always been a bit on the angry side, but I always felt I was learning things from him.

I haven’t though that i have been learning anything from him fora good while now, and on top of that listening to him was making me angry.

I don’t have any need to be made angry, Mark can keep his anger to himself.

From the article, “surveillance cameras that shows Lewandowski reaching for and grabbing Fields.”

I watched the surveillance video dozens of times and other video as well. None them showed Lewandowski doing anything that matched the description of the incident given by Fields. That is why this is not being pursued; it has become an embarrassment to the partisan prosecutor.

"Actually, I did detect a bit of a difference between his normal screeching and his completely over the top faux outrage over this."

I had quit listening regularly a few weeks before that.

I'm not even a Trump supporter (although I like his candidacy has revealed millions of pseudo-conservative, pseudo-patriotic hypocrites for what they really are), but Levin's hatred for Trump and anyone who doesn't bow down to worship The Savior Cruz has made it so that I make a point of turning the radio off when he comes on.

Unwanted touching with pain is assault....these circumstances make it a b.s. assault not worth grown ups wasting their time and life energy over.

But by the letter of the law it is an assault (simple battery I think they call it in that jurisdiction)

As a police officer i would have tried very hard to c9nvince both parties to grow up and get over it.....not every disagreement or bad behavior requires govt intervention.

There was never any “there”, there.

We all saw that video from six different angles.

I’m not exactly the laid back type when it comes to someone remotely hurting my wife.

This would not have upset me.

You tend to use very “liberal” and Alinsky-type reasoning. The two situations do not compare equally nor are alike. Just saying.

He didn’t throw her to the ground, but he did grab her arm and pull her back. It’s not worth prosecuting, that’s all. Over-aggressive male vs. histrionic female, a waste of police and court time.

“He’ll try to spin it and give some deeper insight that he had but couldn’t articulate.”

Rush lives in Palm Beach County and no doubt knows the local politics and players. If he knew anything about Aronberg he’d have known there would be no prosecution by the DA.

Rush hasn’t been on top of his game for over a decade. i still occasionally listen to him. It seems as though he does little show prep anymore. I’m guessing his staff hands him a stack of material before the show which he quickly scans. He then tries to do a three hour monologue based on a few stories and past memories. Occasionally he’ll take a caller. When he runs out of things to say, he’ll pontificate about liberals ruining the NFL.

Rush was once witty and entertaining. He was sharp, insightful and very effective in educating his audience. For years the liberals who could not refute him called him a windbag. Unfortunately, as he has become fabulously wealthy, he has lost his cutting edge.
