Donald Trump hires veteran GOP operative Rick Wiley
Washington Post ^ | April 13 at 3:50 PM | By Philip Rucker

Posted on 04/13/2016 1:24:55 PM PDT by dynoman

The Trump campaign said Wednesday that Rick Wiley — who has more than two decades of experience in state and national politics and most recently served as campaign manager for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s presidential bid — is joining the operation as national political director.

“Rick is a seasoned political expert with a very successful career in winning elections,” Trump said in a news release. “He brings decades of experience, and his deep ties to political leaders and activists across the country will be a tremendous asset as we enter the final phase of securing the nomination.”

Wiley said in the same release, “Voters are frustrated with the political status quo in our country and are hungry for an outsider to shake up Washington. Donald Trump has energized millions of hard working people across the country with his no-nonsense straight talk and will bring his record of success to tackle the real problems that face our nation.”

The difference is he is paying these guys with his own money - not OPM - like every other candidate in the race.

YES!! I’ve been saying he needed to spend more.

I think he understands that now and I hope he comes out and says he will be accepting donations for the generals.

I don’t BLAME him if he doesn’t want to part with half a billion dollars!!!!

He shouldn’t have to.

But get it out of the way sooner than later. Right after he is nominated, I would think.

If you send them money they become like a stray cat and will meet you at the door and beg for more. I used to give a little to Paul and Cruz and I started getting letters from of them. Unless you want to morph that one cat into seven never start. Your mailbox will always be full and you will be buying 30 pounds of catfood a month.

Cruz didn’t have the funds for Walker but made a call to the GOP Establishment aka Romney who is the money wrangler.

Walker's call included an email to folks like me, who give a little bit to the Cruz campaign now and then. It was a gracious gesture, and a long sighted one. There is nothing wrong with making allies in this manner. Of course, Walker and Cruz are more compatible as they are both small government conservatives, and Trump is not running as a small government candidate. Before Trump enetered a lot of us were okay with either.

There is no reason why Walker would consider supporting Trump during the primaries, and he telegraphed it when he exited the race. At the time Cruz raised money for the Walker campaign, his pull with the GOP-E was not very strong, as John Ellis Bush and Rubio were still very much in it. Cruz was still in low double digits or so, as memory serves.

If Wisconsin wasn't winnable, why did Trump continue to misrepresent Walker's record in Wisconsin? He antagonized a good governor and good people needlessly. Just before the election, at least one polling operation (ARG) and many here saw a Trump win. Polling showed Trump within shooting distance, before he started using WI leftist and union thug talking points in a Republican primary. Trump himself threw away votes and turned what should have been a closer race into a rout.

There was no need to make an attack on Walker. This "immature governor with a High School education" took on and defeated the entire Madison/Milwaukee progressive machine, where it is VERY well organized, the hordes bused in from Chicago, the complete national resources of the thugacracy, crazies infesting the capital for weeks, the Dem senators fleeing the state, an adversarial court in Dane County, and the Wisconsin media. His high school plus three plus years of college at Marquette before he left to EARN A LIVING is not immature at all.

What is immature is making gratuitous insults to opponents, like calling Cruz a "p" word. It was beneath Trump, it is beneath his supporters. No one who has seen the low key Wisconsin governor for any length of time ever accused him of being a "Drama Queen". Accusing him of being a "Drama Queen" is a cheap turn to making insults rather than arguments, and invites being called a "drama queen" right back.

Trump lost big in Wisconsin. He lost big because he acted small. He misread the state, he misrepresented the record. I will be charitable and assume he just didn't do his homework.

I’ll vote for Trump or Cruz. But I’m still packing a parachute, rather than ride the plane into the ground.

***why this guy?***

VP possibility?

The real question that needs consideration: Why is John Kasich still in the race? ...and the answer: He has made some sort of deal in order to keep either of the two front runners from obtaining the magical # 1237. I cannot think of any other reason for this turncoat to conservatism to remain in the race... Look at his poll numbers in NY right now: about 15% - just enough to siphon votes from the leaders without a hope of gaining Kasich anything tangible or obvious... and where is he getting his campaign money? He has identified himself as a RINO - a Democrap sympathizer who thinks the answer to America's problems is to cross the isle - i.e.: SURRENDER!

A pox on John Kasich!

VERILY! In Egypt recently 33 million people took to the streets to stop the takeover by a tyranny... Fabulous! Recently my son attended a patriotic demonstration against an over-bearing fed govt: not even 33 people showed up! How depressing...

He also not long ago hired this guy, which is not surprising giving Trump's admiration for KGB Putin.

March 31, 2016:

“A senior aide to Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump helped a scandal-plagued Ukrainian oligarch with ties to political and criminal figures in Russia park millions of dollars in offshore real estate investments, according to documents released as part of a federal racketeering suit.

The lawsuit, brought by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, accused U.S. political consultant Paul Manafort of complicity in a complex scheme of retaliation against Tymoshenko and her political allies for impeding the business interests of Ukrainian gas tycoon Dmitry Firtash.

Manafort, a veteran GOP consultant and former adviser to recently-ousted Ukrainian president and Firtash ally Viktor Yanukovych, is now leading the Trump presidential campaign’s efforts to secure delegates at the Republican National Convention in July.

Trump’s praise for Russian president Vladimir Putin, who backed Yanukovych’s Kremlin-friendly government, has drawn criticism from Republican rivals and experts on U.S. policy toward Russia.

One of the GOP frontrunner’s top foreign policy advisers is also a staunch defender of Putin’s regime and highly critical of U.S. efforts to counter Russian influence in Ukraine and the rest of Europe.

Manafort’s involvement with Firtash in high-dollar business ventures could fuel criticism of Trump’s apparent affinity for Russian political interests, which U.S. military leaders say amount to the nation’s greatest strategic threat.”

“Paul Manafort has a history of working for strong men.

Over a 40-year career as a lobbyist and political consultant, Manafort and his firms have advised, in no particular order, a business group tied to Ferdinand Marcos, the dictator of the Philippines; Viktor Yanukovych, the ousted Ukrainian president and ally of Vladimir Putin; and Lynden Pindling, the former Bahamian prime minister who was accused of ties to drug traffickers.”

Manafort also worked with Reagan.

No doubt that was before he was exposed as the Russian-sympathizer that he (Manafort) is.

Trump is surrounding himself with more and more establishment GOPe people.

You and many other Trump supporters said this was is a negative when Cruz hired them. It was the litmus test proving Cruz was GOPe.

Now that Trump is doing the same thing, will you have to change your tune once again? Or does it prove Trump is becoming GOPe as fast as he can?

" Trump's relationship with Russia goes far back. In 1987, before the collapse of the Soviet Union, he was meeting with Soviet officials and negotiating the building of "luxury hotels" in Moscow and Leningrad .

A story at the time said Trump had met Soviet Ambassador Yuri Dubinin, who mentioned how much his daughter had admired the "opulent" Trump Tower in New York City. This led to an invitation to Trump to visit the USSR. The story said Dubinin wrote a letter to Trump, who hosted a meeting with Soviet officials in New York.

The invitation to Moscow was issued by Intourist, the giant Soviet in-country travel organization which operated all the hotels for foreigners in the Soviet Union.

Intourist was created in 1929 by Joseph Stalin and run by KGB officials. Intourist hotels were designed for wealthy foreigners, and virtually all the Intourist guides were KGB informers. In fact, one aspect of their jobs was the recruitment of foreigners. ..."

"...we are left thinking [whether] Trump understands the aggressive intentions of Vladimir Putin.

"...when Trump was asked about the nuclear balance with Russia during the most recent Republican presidential debate, he displayed ignorance of the decaying nature of the U.S. nuclear triad , which constitutes our ability to deter and survive a Russian nuclear first strike.

"Putin has just presided over a ceremony honoring the KGB's successor agencies, and the Russia Today (RT) propaganda channel has announced the grand opening of a "cultural center" dedicated to mass murderer Joseph Stalin.

It looks like Putin has outmaneuvered Obama and Trump. It is an opening for Trump's opponents, especially Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Marco Rubio (R-FL). But do they have the courage to "follow the money" and hold Trump accountable for doing business with a criminal regime that threatens the survival of the United States? At the end of this money trail, they may find an explanation of why Trump is so reluctant to hold Putin responsible for his crimes.

*******************************************************************

"Trump said that he "often speaks highly" of Putin because of his "intelligence and no-nonsense way." An intelligence operative, Putin was in the KGB and ran one of the KGB's successor agencies, the FSB.

Putin certainly has a "no-nonsense" approach to his perceived political enemies. Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya was poisoned, miraculously survived, but was then later shot dead on October 7, 2006, which happened to be Putin's birthday. She had been warning about the KGB's return to power and was investigating the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and murder of hundreds in the Beslan school massacre in southern Russia in 2004.

This event, like the 1999 Moscow apartment bombings, was blamed on Islamists and gave Putin the opportunity, or pretext, to further consolidate his power over the military, the intelligence agencies, and the economy. He assumed virtual dictatorial powers.

The poisoning of Politkovskaya was a hallmark of the KGB's "no-nonsense" way of doing business.

Later that same year, dissident former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko was murdered by poisoning in London, to which he had fled. He wrote the book Blowing Up Moscow: The Secret Plot to Bring Back KGB Terror, about the FSB's role in those 1999 Moscow apartment bombings. He had also named al-Qaeda's number two man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, as having been trained by the KGB.

While Trump's 2011 book denounced "Obama's pandering to the Russians" in areas like sabotaging missile defense for our allies, he said Putin had a "grand vision," the creation of a "Eurasian Union" to replace the USSR. He said Putin wanted to control oil supplies to all of Europe. This was an important insight into how Putin's regime is not defensive, nor reacting to the U.S. and NATO, but is instead aggressive in foreign affairs and trying to dominate its neighbors. However, rather than explain what the Russians were up to with this "grand vision," Trump went on to say "Hats off to the Russians" in getting their way with Obama.

One can fully understand taking Obama to task for giving in to the Russians. But praising the Russians for taking advantage of Obama reflects a trait that is all too common with many conservatives. Their disgust with Obama has blinded them to the nature of our enemies, who exploit his foreign policy to their advantage. They somehow think Putin is acting in America's interests when Obama is not. ..."

Maybe, I note that the snowflakes are SOOOOOO upset that the very mention of his name in chalk on the sidewalks of their campus sanctuaries causes them to hold hands and shut down the campuses in fear.

OTOH, the actual conservatives, who tend to be well mannered polite and civilized ladies and gentlemen have had enough with the foul-mouthed egomaniac, braggart, bully, ignoramus (or plays one during this campaign) The Donald and all too many of his supporters and with the utter disdain they hold for anyone who does not worship and go on autosmooch for the Guccis (OR some anterior body part) of The Donald. PC has NOTHING to do with it. Manners do.

Were you as ashamed of Reagan being a gentleman as many of us are of The Donald being a boor?
