What is it about the Duluth-Two Harbors expressway?

In February it was a Nissan Sentra doing 137 mph. And on Friday night a jet-black 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS was clocked at 171 mph on that stretch of Minnesota Highway 61.

Hermantown Police Department Deputy Chief Shawn Padden was on loan as part of a Minnesota State Patrol "Toward Zero Deaths" DWI saturation effort Friday night when the radar in his Dodge Charger squad car started screaming

Classic GM. They knew!

What bugged me the most is that they were pushing the Buy American mantra right after and since then.

> They were waving the American flag with one hand while they were picking my pocket with the other.<

It’s cool how those blowers could turn on and off. LOL

Kinda like how some movie guns have to cocked over and over.

Is this the same road Bob Dylan wrote a song about?

Yes, right after he wrote the song he put some bleachers out in the sun.

My analogy did not fail because if we allowed higher speeds then there’d be less differential in speed just like in Europe.

it was a Nissan Sentra doing 137 mph

Sorry I do not believe that.

Back in the day, the wife's 1984 Nissan 200SX Turbo could do 137 easy and still have gas pedal left ......

I’m at 98,000 miles on my 2001 Highlander. Just replaced the timing belt, which wasn’t cheap, but what a great machine. And it looks like a 2 year old car!

But that's not the case is is Megan? So your analogy failed big.

You don't drive at 120++ mph speeds on highways where most are traveling at about 60-80 mph. In regards to safety for all, this is not complex.

In my past life I was a former test driver and was also employed to drive high profile clients in multiple countries, including Germany. OK?

My days of muscle cars are long over. I drive a Hyundai Entourage now Allowa me to slip my canes or wheelchair in and out from behind the driver's seat with ease.

There is a 60 mile stretch of I-10 from Lake City into Jacksonville in N Fl that is a straight stretch and not heavily patrolled.. I cranked my Mercedes 16 valve 5 speed up one night to 120 and was drafting a big rig for a few miles before I decided to back it off. Good times. LOL!

My days of muscle cars are long over.

It's interesting after spending years in CA over the years, with CA being the place of world class high end cars/hot rods. Where years ago it was the teens and young adults who were behind the wheel and at the forefront of the fast car hot rod scene.

Not so much nowadays...lol

Nowadays with high price of buying and or building high end cars/hot rods, it's now the norm to see senior citizens in them instead. Most of the younger folks are no where to be seen. They were simply priced out of that world.

A centrifugal blower not spinning would make for an enormous intake restriction, but that little engineering detail would spoil the visuals, eh?

I was bummed when I found out the blower was a electrically powered prop.

Saw Road Warrior in the theater, and the best part was everyone leaving the parking lot after it was over. Tire squealing, burnouts, over the curb craziness.

You forget the yearly (or bi-yearly? (still?)) smog checks and the nightmare of getting go fast parts and mods past the inspectors. Takes all the enjoyment out of kids modifying cars. Planned that way no doubt, same thing the liberals are trying to do with firearms, make buying and owning one so onerous they hop we will give it up.

I was so lucky a buddy from Oregon wanted to buy my supercharged Mustang, it was becoming impossible to put it close enough to stock each inspection to get it to pass. Bastards, could blown as clean as if it were not running, but have non approved parts..........

I pegged the speedometer (140) in a fairly new 89 Maxima with a 5-speed manual once New stretch of interstate, just opened, zero traffic, about 3 AM. The car hunkered down and handled pretty well but things were just happening too fast. Any irregularity in the pavement was magnified, the suspension was at it’s practical limit, no weird porpoising or feeling as if the front end was about to lift off, but much more and it would have been. That’s the only major speed run I’ve ever done on a public road. Of course, in some places regular interstate traffic pushes 90, but that’s well within the limits of suspension, tires and driver skill for most.

I know there is better technology now, but I always wanted a V-8 with a blower. They are just COOL. I would prefer it be mounted in a 1940 Ford coupe.

All that too, you got it. Government once again was there to destroy and control.

Smart move dumping the Mustang. Sad but smart.

Btw, they did the same with GA, General Aviation. They all but destroyed it except for folks with big $$$.
